B. 5 Cultural Behaviors (thoughts, cultural upbringing, communication patterns etc) that are portrayed
by the client and explain how the social worker handle these value dilemma.

1. If you do something wrong, you must be punished


- The client believed that she deserves to be punished physically because she did something
wrong. The social worker explained to the client and helped her to understand the reason why
her mother beats her. And encouraged the client not to blame herself and to understand the
situation of her mother.
2. She need to protect her family
- Despite of her situation, the client was afraid that her mother will be put in jail. She is worried
about what will happen to her mother and 2 year old sister. That is why, at first she don't want
to share about what her mother did to her and the address of the Pen house. The social worker
didn't force the client to share about it, but she tried to explain what the client can do to really
help her mother.
3. The use of "po" and "opo", she communicates with respect.
- The client is respectful, she didn't forget to show respect to whoever she is talking with. The
social worker encourage the client with good things, she also shows respect and that she really
care to the client.
4. She easily gets nervous or afraid
- Because of the environment that she is living and her experiences with her mother, the client
easily gets nervous or afraid. The social worker always giving a gentle response, reminding the
client that she will guide her, encouraging her to be positive and strong.
5. Faith in God
-Despite of her situation, the client still has a strong faith. The social worker encourage her to
keep praying for her situation and for her mother.
