1.0 OBJECTIVE:
To lay down the procedure for Standard Operating Procedure for Spillage of solid and
liquid media in which growth observed during microbiological testing.
2.0 SCOPE:
This procedure is applicable to, Microbiology department.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
Microbiologist.
4.0 PROCEDURE:
4.1 Upon spillage of solid/ liquid media containing growth wear surgical gloves and
collect.
4.2 Solid media and remove excess fluid from the surface with the help of cotton
piece.
4.3 Spray 70 % Iso Propyl Alcohol and keep it for 5 minutes.
4.4 Mop the surface using cotton piece with 2.5 % dettol.
4.5 Discard the media with cotton piece as per SOP.

When Spillage occurs.
