Garcia - Advanced Communication Assignment 1

This document is an assignment submission for an advanced communication course. It addresses two questions: 1) The student defines communication as the exchange of information between individuals through conversation to establish understanding. Effective communication requires confidence and meaning while conveying thoughts verbally or non-verbally. 2) The effective communication process involves the cyclic transmission of a message from the sender to the receiver and back. It can be impacted by barriers at each step, such as poor method selection, noise, language issues, and nonverbal cues. Overcoming these obstacles is key for systematic and structured interaction.

1. What is communication based from your own perspective?

Communication involves the exchange of information. It is simply the act of individuals

participating in the conversation sharing common ideas. To establish an ideal interaction
with communication, it is critical to conduct the process confidently and meaningfully.
The act of communication also is referred to as the process of transmitting information,
either orally or in writing. It is the verbal or non-verbal messages of a person's thoughts to
another person.

The ability to communicate and interact with others with a common understanding is
essential. If there isn't a common understanding, communications will lead to more
misunderstandings. People become aimless as a result of it. It is one of the most important
tools for connecting with people.

Communication is something that sometimes some of us lack that is why there are
misunderstandings between two or more things and/or people. This usually gives us the
opportunity to express ourselves and be more open about our thoughts about a particular
subject. It does not only involve listening and speaking thus it also needs a deeper and
proper understanding of a conversation in order for communication to take place.

2. What are the effective

process of communication?

The exchange or passage of information or a message from the sender through a chosen
communication path while overcoming barriers that slow it down is referred to as the
communication process. The communication process is cyclic in nature, as it starts with
the sender and ends with the sender in the form of feedback. It occurs at all levels of the
organization, including the top, bottom, and sides. As such, communication must be a
systematic and structured interaction in which many variables affect and are affected. The
communication process is made up of several steps, each of which is necessary for effective
communication.

However, the communication process is not as simple or as free of obstacles as it appears.

From distribution to receipt, the message may be interfered with or disrupted at any
point by a range of factors recognized as obstacles to effective communication. Poor
communication method selection is one of the factors. Other barriers to effective
communication, in addition to a poor choice of communication method, include noise
and other physical distractions, language difficulties, and a failure to recognize nonverbal
signals.
