Assessment means understanding the state or the condition of a process through
objective measurements and observations. Also known as process-oriented which means it
focuses on improving the process. Findings are for identifying areas that need
improvement. While, evaluation is determining the value of something. It is more of a final
process, known as product-oriented that means it focuses on the quality of the process.
Findings are judgmental in evaluation as they come to an overall score.

2.Formative evaluation and Summative evaluation

Formative Evaluation is judging while the activities are in progress, it focuses on the
process. Examples are quizzes and tests that evaluate how someone is learning throughout
a course. Summative evaluation is judging at the end of the program activities, it focuses on
the result. Examples are quizzes and tests that evaluate how much has someone learned
throughout the course.
Formative assessment takes place during a course and summative assessment are
the final evaluation at the course end.

more objective as they have numerical standards to be compared and reported. While,
evaluation allows to use data and knowledge to assess success or failure, it can take
place without numerical measurement as it measures quality. Evaluation may be
considered to be more subjective.

when the guest tastes the soup.” Do you agree? Why or why not?
I agree, on the statement, “when the cook tastes the soup while summative
assessment is when the guest tastes the soup. As for my understanding the soup takes
place the student and the cook and guest as the teacher. Formative assessment are
evaluated during the work process and focus is on improving the process, it is likely to when
the cook tastes the soup, the cook wanted to improve the soup while on the process or
activity to make a better soup. Summative assessment are evaluated upon completion or
work and the focus is on the final product, it is likely to when the guest tastes the soup.

F. “All tests are forms of Assessment, but not all assessment are tests: Which definitions of
assessment given in F support this statements?
Testing and assessment are used interchangeably, but they do mean something
different. Testing is a "product" that tests a specific action or collection of objectives. In
the meantime, the evaluation is seen as a process instead of a commodity. The
assessment shall be used during and after the instruction has been given.
G. Here are how authors distinguish measurement. assessment and evaluation:
Evaluation 1. Evaluation is the process of making judgments based on criteria and
evidence.

Assessment 2. Assessment is the process of documenting knowledge, skills, attitude: and

belief is usually in measurable terms. The goal of assessment is to make
improvements, as opposed to simply being judged.

Assessment 3. In an educational context, assessment is the process of describing,

collecting, recording, scoring, and interpreting information about learning.
