Directions: Decide if the underlined phrases are Infinitive phrases, Prepositional


phrases, gerund phrases, or participial phrases. (Hint: I’d check in that order.) Write
your answer on the blank. (Hints: inf=to+verb, prep=prep+noun, ger=ing/noun,
part=ing or past tense verb form/adjective) On the blank at the end of the sentence
try telling how the phrase is functioning or what it modifies (for participles). The first
