RELEASE NOTES - CYCLONE 6.0
A second feature useful for forensics and other analysis is the ability to place cameras (viewpoint locations) at a
given distance above any selected point. A typical use of this is to place the camera at the eyesight height above
a point on the ground and to be able to quickly determine what is visible to a person standing at that point. This is
useful in determining witness, perpetrator and office viewpoints into a scanned scene. The cameras default
viewpoint can be easily set and saved and users simply click from one camera position to another to see the
various viewpoints.
ADDITIONAL ENHANCEMENTS
Cyclone can use up to 3GB of virtual memory when run on an operating system that supports 32-bit
processes with 3GB of virtual address space. Refer to Microsoft documentation for how to configure the
/3GB switch, and for the caveats on the use of this switch.
The black/white target fitter can run significantly faster than before.
ScanWorld Explorer works in an “Interim Results” ModelSpace (launched from the Registration viewer’s
“View Interim Results” command).
The “Apply ScanWorld Color to Scans” toolbar button in the ScanWorld Explorer changes the colors of point
clouds in the ModelSpace, based on the corresponding ScanWorld’s color. Select the color via the
“ScanWorld Color” column in the “Scanners” tab.
Enterprise Elite allows the user to select more than one license when Cyclone is launched.
Cyclone can import and export PTG files. The PTG binary file format specification is available from Leica
Geosystems HDS.
Cyclone can import HDS6000 scans from ZFS files that also have colors.
Cyclone can import the LAS file format, commonly used for aerial LIDAR data. In the Navigator, importing an
LAS file into a Project or Database creates a new ModelSpace. Importing an LAS file into a selected
ModelSpace adds the imported cloud to that ModelSpace.
o This command requires a Cyclone license that can import data. Please refer to the product data
sheet.
BUG FIXES
Databases of any size should properly unify if enough system resources are available.
When the number of cloud points is greater than 2 billion, Cyclone displays the correct number in
ModelSpace Info, Object Info, and ScanWorld Explorer.
Cyclone no longer runs out of memory when importing large ASCII files as a point cloud.

RELEASE NOTES - CYCLONE 6.0
Cyclone communicates reliably with the HDS6000 when the scanner experiences an error.
Cyclone no longer displays a message asking users to send diagnostics to Leica Geosystems HDS,
sometimes encountered during image acquisition from HDS3000, ScanStation, and ScanStation 2.
Colors applied to point clouds using the “Apply MultiImage” command can be published to TruView.
GENERAL CHANGES
Due to an update to Cyclone PUBLISHER and the TruView Client, all TruView data published from Cyclone
6.0 PUBLISHER will require users to update their TruView client viewer to the new 2.0 version. This new
viewer will also be able to correctly display and measure any previously published TruView data.
o The recovery file keeps databases consistent, avoiding data corruption that may happen in rare
situations.
o A warning dialog is displayed if a database’s recovery folder cannot be found when it is added to
the server. Push the More Info button for more information.
Because the Leica Geosystems Cyclone 6.0 installer no longer includes the CloudWorx or COE products, it
is recommended that earlier Cyclone installations first be uninstalled before installing Cyclone 6.0. Then,
install CloudWorx and COE products using the latest installers, as necessary.
Run the Cyclone 6.0 InstallShield and follow the directions in the InstallShield Wizard to proceed with the
installation. Please heed warning message about compatibility of earlier versions’ databases.
NOTE: If you are upgrading to Cyclone 6.0 from Cyclone 5.6 or earlier, your hotkey and toolbar
customizations will be reset during the upgrade. Before upgrading to Cyclone 6.0, first export your
customizations. Then, after upgrading to Cyclone 6.0, import your customizations.
