Praxis Core Analysis

Exam Requirements

Passing the Praxis Core Exam is essential to me because I am planning

to transfer to UNLV, and it is required for me to get my Teacher Licensure to teach in the state

of Nevada. My scores were as follows Math 89%, Reading 93%, Writing 63%.

Exam Preparation

When preparing for my Praxis Core exam, I looked at the resources available to

me to learn more about it. I used a lot of Praxis websites, and I looked over practice questions; I

won’t lie, I didn’t really look into the Writing part of the exam. I did a couple of questions and

skimmed through when looking over that section, which is why I think I did so poorly in that

section. The resources my instructor provided were helpful but very informational; they were

able to answer the questions I had about the test and even informed me about things I didn’t

know. I also looked up videos of people talking about the Praxis Core Exam and what helped

them pass it and just hearing their opinion on the test.

Exam Results

I scored an 89% for the math portion, meaning that I am likely to pass the

math section: for the Reading section, I scored a 93%, which was my best score, meaning I am

very likely to pass the official Praxis Core exams reading section. Finally, for the Writing part, I

scored a 63%, meaning I need improvement, which I totally agree with since I didn’t take my

time to prepare enough for it.

Future Exam Preparation

In the future to better prepare myself to pass the Official Praxis Core Exam,
3

I will look at more free Praxis Prep websites because I feel like they were truly beneficial when it

came to taking the practice version. I did think about working with a tutor as well, but I am

timid, so that option was out of the picture. I also want to purchase a study book to work through

because I find myself more motivated to study when I invest in preparation materials. For

example, when I was in high school, I purchased an ACT study book, and I found myself

studying and genuinely trying to learn to get a passing score.
