Reflection
What went well? How do you Students that were at the start of the lesson were able to
know? apply these skills easily and answer comprehension
questions.
What didn’t go as planned? This lesson is filled with things that didn’t go as planned. I
was almost late because I had a very bad migraine and sinus
headache due to allergies. Most of the students were
significantly late which caused many to miss the beginning
critical information in the presentation. Halfway through the
class an admin showed up to take my students into a Zoom
Room and give their assessment of my teaching and the class
content. I was not made aware of this so I did not create a
lesson that could have a large break in it. I also had a lot of
technology issues this week and one of my materials did not
load into the classroom. We did not complete half of what I
had planned because of the interruption and lateness of the
students. I feel that his lesson showcases how I deal with
things when nothing is going as planned. If anyone wants to
observe me at my most stressed, this class is a good example
of that.
What contingency plan did The contingency plan I used was ‘just keep going.’ Almost
you employ? everything that can go wrong, did and I just kept moving
forward. Fortunately, my students were very understanding
and we made it through okay.
What would you do differently Next time I will know that I am being interrupted so that I
next time? can plan my lesson around that instead of breaking it up in
unequal parts. I wasn’t able to find any good videos on this
topic. Hopefully in the future I can incorporate a video that
expands on the topic learned in this lesson.
Did your students meet the The students were able to identify titles, headings and write
purpose and objectives for this them down in their notebooks. Students were able to read the
lesson?  What is your evidence reading comprehension articles with little difficulty. Students
for each? were able to understand and identify new vocabulary for
future study. Students were able to understand the
presentation. Finally, students were able to identify
important parts of fliers which will be contained in future
CASAS tests.
What do your students need Students need more practice with identifying things on fliers
next? How do you know? and in readings. This was the first lesson on how to apply
skimming and scanning to readings and fliers. Students
struggled a little bit with the fliers but will be exposed to
them in future lessons and in their CASAS test.
What did you learn about your I learned that I can be flexible and still have an effective

interruption.
As always I need better closing exercises that have clear
review activities. By watching my lessons I have discovered
that gap and will be working on that this next teaching
session.
