Having an optimized website has become the most important aspect of every organization. The
success of an evolving business depends on a fully functioning website. A website must be user-
friendly, up-to-date, and platform-independent.

What is WordPress?
WordPress is an open-source content management system that can help you to build a website or
blog. It has an in-built array of templates and plugins. It is the most widely used application to
create a website. You can create business websites, eCommerce stores, blogs, resumes, etc with
the help of WordPress.

Organizations and companies are looking for candidates who have relevant knowledge about
designing a website. The demand for a web developer is very high in the market. The web
development community is growing and evolving every day and is one of the most important
aspects of a successful business. If website designing is introduced to the kids in school, it will
pave the way for a better-connected and more collaborative future for education. Kids will learn
how to code and have designing knowledge from a young age that will help them in the future.

courses. Some of the paid courses that a beginner can start learning web designing from reliable
websites like Udemy, Lynda.com, WP101, and WP Apprentice. Apart from this, Kinsta,
WordPress TV, WPKube, etc are some of the websites that provide a free course on how to
develop a website using WordPress.

A website has two sides- the server-side and the client-side. The codes, web files, backlinks, etc
are stored at the server-side. When someone accesses your codes and files through the internet, it
is known as the client-side. Designing a website broadly comprises of three steps- choosing the
correct platform for your website, choosing the right domain name, and configuring your newly
created WordPress website.

WordPress is the perfect option for kids and beginners who are starting to learn web designing. It
is a free and open-source application. Once you have chosen the correct platform, it is very
important to choose the right domain name. A domain name is nothing but the name of the
website. For example, if you are designing a business website for XYZ organization, your
domain name can be XYZ.com. Although there is no rule on the domain name, it is advisable to
choose a domain name that corresponds to the purpose of the website that you are designing. The
most common extensions used are .com, .org,.in, and .net. These points must be kept in mind
while choosing a domain name:

 Short
 Catchy
 Easy to type
 Corresponds to the purpose of the business
 Memorable

There are two types of hosting possible when designing a website on WordPress- shared hosting
and shared WordPress hosting. For kids starting to learn web designing on WordPress, shared
hosting is recommended. The hosting plan can be upgraded as the website grows.

The final step is to configure the newly designed WordPress website. There is an array of themes
and plugins available in WordPress which help you to customize the appearance of your website.
You can add content, media, comments, widgets, extensions, plugins, and change the
background colour of the website.
Designing a website using WordPress is a very interesting concept where the kids can use their
creativity. Now-a-days a business without a web presence is of no use. Kids should be
introduced to WordPress so that they have enough time to grasp the in-depth knowledge.
Technological advancements have taken a leap in the recent decade. Web development has a
