What type of assessment, comprehensive or focused, is being performed at this clinic visit?

Explain your thinking.

The type of assessment being utilized at this clinic is a comprehensive assessment. The taught

process of selecting this form of assessment would be since this is the first time Nam visits a

clinic in a very long time, a baseline will be required to be established before the beginning of a

focused examination on the areas that raises concern.

Identify the types of data (e.g., subjective/objective, primary/secondary) gathered so far.

Give an example of each type.

Mr. Nguyen mentioned explicitly that he was there for a checkup and to have his bilateral knee

checked. The pain that he is feeling is seen as subjective but can also be objective whenever he is

asked about the knee pain from a scale of 0 to 10. Mr. Nguyen’s partner is concerned with the

risk for heart disease, based on the family history as well as shorth=ness of breath and feelings of

fatigue. The above can be considered as subjective until the testing to ascertain it is conducted.

How might you verify the data that Mr. Nguyen provided on the intake sheet?

I can verify the data by ascertaining it with Mr. Nguyen by asking questions. I could organize

and ask questions to help in the verification of the information.

Based on what you know about Mr. Nguyen, what follow-up assessments would provide

useful data to help with Mr. Nguyen's care? Why would you make these assessments?

Based on what I know on Mr. Nguyen, I would be inclined to conduct a more focused

assessment to deal with the concerns of his partner. I would love to know the lab results and

conduct basic questioning utilizing this as a basis of my assessment forward to determine a

diagnosis. Additionally, I would monitor his eyes’ history because he had mentioned that he had

an eye problem. I would monitor for Hermia. I will also perform another follow up activity by

tracing his entire medication process to ensure that he sticks to the medication and conducts the

required exercises. I would also monitor and regulate his smoking habit.
