Q: 3 Write a letter to the editor discussing the problem of broken roads in
your area?

A: 3

Examination Hall,

City A.B.C.

May 9th, 2022.

The Editor,

The daily Jang,

Lahore.

Subject: Discussing the problem of broken roads in your area.

Dear Sir,

The condition of the roads in our locality has become extremely

poor. There are many uncovered holes on the road which are dangerous for
us citizens.

Last year, there was an underground pipe installation on the road. During
that time, due to the roadwork, many holes were developed on the road.
However, after the work, the holes were not covered and now they are lying
on the roads uncovered. This is very dangerous for the kids on the roads as
well as elders. Many senior citizens go for morning walks and due to the fog;
they are unable to see clearly. They can fall anytime into the hole. Even the
stray animals are facing the same danger. Last week, a puppy nearly fell into
the hole but a person was there to rescue at the time. It is very difficult for the
residents of the locality to live under a risk like this.

I hope the issue will be highlighted in your esteemed daily to raise concern to
the authority about the everyday issue and bring upon a solution.

Yours truly,

X.Y.Z.

A thrilling 20-20 cricket match

To:

The Principal,

A.B.C College

Lahore.

From: College Student.

Subject: A thrilling 20-20 cricket match.

Date: May 9th, 2022.

Introduction: This report is about a thrilling 20-20 cricket match of our

college team and opponent team. This report is based on facts and figures.

Text / Report: A 20-20 cricket match was organized between Shalimar

College Science College. The match was taken place at our college ground.

The day started with the players' introduction. We won the toss and decided
to let the guest team bat first. We got the wickets of the opening batsmen Ali
& Kamran by the very first over. The team of Science College lost their hope
for the match by losing these two crucial wickets of their best opening
partnership. Much too all their surprise, the new player Jawad Ahmad on the
team scored 100 runs for 60 balls next. The supporters of Science College
went crazy each time he swung his bat. They shouted and encouraged him to
play better. However, this joy was not long-lived. Our team’s bowler Shahzad
took Jawad’s wicket at 113.

The players who followed Jawad collectively managed to score around 80

runs. By the end of the match, Science College had set a target of 190 runs.
Our opening partnership of Nabeel and Ahsan scored a collective 90 for 60
balls. Then Nabeel has bowled by opponent team bowler Fahad Mirza. The
opening partnership has broken. Then new batsman Khalid comes into the
crease. He made a good partnership of 40 runs with the opener Ahsan in 30
balls. Now 60 runs had remained in just 5 overs (30 balls). Science College
gave ball to their attacking bowler Faisal and he got a hat-trick in 16th over
and over ends in a maiden. Shalimar College team was in trouble, because
they had lost their 4 wickets now they needed 60 runs in just 4 overs (24 balls).

Then attacking right-handed batsman of Shalimar College Usman comes into

the crease. He played aggressively and made 40 runs in just 3 overs with his
partner Sajid. Now 20 runs required in the last over. The attacking bowler of
opponent team Faisal came to bowl last over. This match was thrilling. In the
last over Faisal came to bowl and Usman hit 3 consecutive sixes in a row. Now
2 runs required on 3 balls. On 4th ball of final over Faisal got the crucial
wicket of Usman. Usman played a superb innings of 58 runs in just 22 balls.
Shalimar College needed 2 runs on 2 balls with 5 wickets left. The batsman no
7 Bilal comes into the crease. Faisal came to bowl second last ball of match
and Bilal took a single run. Now 1 run is required on final ball of match. This
match has been very excited. Faisal came to bowl final ball of match, and
Batsman Sajid played a wonderful cover-drive on the off-side and the ball
clears the boundary rope. Team Shalimar won the match by 5 wickets.

Conclusion: In the presentation ceremony, we won a monetary prize of

Rs.5000 along with the winners' trophy. Certificates were distributed to the
opposition team. Man of the match award goes to Usman for his outstanding
batting in very critical condition.
Suggestions: I request the principal that there should be such sports
activities. So that students can also show interest in extracurricular activities.
Sports activities are also very important for the mental development of
students.
A traffic jam

To:

Traffic Police Punjab,

Lahore.

From: Report Writer.

Subject: A traffic jam.

Date: May 9th, 2022.

Introduction: This report is about a traffic jam in city town. This report is
based on facts and figures.

Text / Report: Even a kid these days knows about the traffic congestion on
road. There is not even a single city on earth today that is undisturbed. With
the transformation of lifestyle people are now occupied 24x7.

Nobody wants to reach late to school, to miss college class, to get late on their
way to the office, to get their salary deducted, to cut it short people are
involved in a life race. Who touches the door first wins, who reaches last, well,
gets their salary deducted.

Although, the traffic condition of my area is the worst. It becomes unbearable

especially during the start time of schools, colleges and universities. This
happens when different vehicles, especially auto-rickshaws, want to advance
in front of each other.

Street conditions and violations of traffic rules are other causes of the
country's traffic jams. People, especially students and service carriers, feel
helpless and frustrated when they get stuck in a traffic jam. Many people fail
to get to their desks on time.

Conclusion: The worst victims are patients who have been transported in
ambulances to hospitals and clinics. Rickshaw drivers also struggle a lot
because they lose their valuable time moving very slowly towards their
destination.

Suggestions: To avoid this traffic there are a number of ways. But no one’s
interested in finding them out. To lessen the burden on your head I’m jotting
down the easiest one’s.

 Carpooling. All you got to do is drop your kids off to school or your
spouse to work instead of letting them drive themselves in a separate
vehicle.

 Switching to 2 wheelers. Scooters, bikes and bicycles are more compact

and light. They’re basic machinery and don’t result in a lot of traffic.

 Using public transport. You can shed a little extra and travel in an AC
bus or the metro with a little friendlier crowd I hope. Wish you luck on
that.
Q: 5 Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper about a problem that the
people of your area face.

A: 5

Examination Hall,

City A.B.C.

May 9th, 2022.

The Editor,

The daily Jang,

Lahore.

Subject: Problem that people of your area face.

Dear Sir,

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I’d like to raise

awareness regarding attacks on the elderly. Physically, the elderly are often
frail. As a result, they can’t defeat the rogues in the muscle battle, who usually
come to pillage them.

Any pushback from the elderly can be dangerous to their health. Many
incidences of theft, snatching, and horrific attacks on the elderly have already
occurred in our area.

It is the government’s responsibility to safeguard the lives of senior persons.

As a result, all safety measures should be taken to save the elderly. Despite
numerous inquiries to the appropriate authorities, no progress has been
made. Perhaps the phrases in your illustrious publication will awaken the
authorities from their slumber.

Thanking you.

crowd of customers. The first section had shops selling house hold things and
grocery. Mother shopped enthusiastically for monthly rations. She bought
many things like soaps, pulses and spices. My cousin and bought some food
items.

There were some furniture shops too. This section had many shops of
stationary too. We visited many sweet and snacks shops and enjoy
refreshment there. In Moga mall, there is a game zone for kids. The game
zone was full of kids as it is a vacation time. We enjoyed playing games in a
game zone too.

Conclusion: The shopping mall was very big but it was clean. To visit a
shopping mall was a new and exciting experience for me. Visiting shopping
mall is very enjoyable for me. As it provides change from daily repetitive
schedule work. We enjoyed a lot by visiting and bought the things of our need
from there.

Suggestions:
 Turn your mall into an entertainment hub. You need an incentive to
attract customers into your mall and to spend time there.
 Hold community events.
 Wi-Fi hot spots.
 Rent space to unconventional tenants.
 Mixed-use malls.
 Measure mall traffic.
Q: 3 Write a letter Editor of a Newspaper about rehabilitation of flood
victims?

A: 3

Examination Hall,

City A.B.C.

May 9th, 2022.

The Editor,

The daily Jang,

Lahore.

Subject: Rehabilitation of flood victims.

Dear Sir,

I have just returned from a tour of the flood-affected area in KPK,

where unprecedented havoc and destruction have taken place.

No doubt people are already familiar with the terrible tragedy that has
overtaken KPK, but the account of an eye witness will bring home to the
people with all the greater effect the terrible distress which these disastrous
floods have caused: In some places whole villages have been swept away and
the crops over a large area destroyed. Thousands of villagers have been
rendered destitute, most of them have nothing but the clothes in which they
managed to escape somehow. They are living in temporary shelters expose to
all the inclemency of the weather, without proper food and clothes.

The government is no doubt doing all it can to relieve the immediate distress,
but unless public funds are raised and people make liberal contributions it is
not possible to rehabilitate the flood-affected victims. When the floods
subside, villages will have to be rebuilt and the villagers will have to be
supplied with seed, fodder, cattle and farm implements before they can start
work again.
I, therefore, strongly appeal to the people to help the government in the
humanitarian task of relieving the distress of the poor sufferers by
contributing generously to the KPK Flood Relief Fund and thus earn the
gratitude of their distressed fellow brethren.

Yours truly,

X.Y.Z.

Inspector General Police,

Police Station Harbanspura,

Lahore.

Subject: Deteriorating law and order situation in your area.

Dear Sir,

I beg to draw your kind attention towards the most deteriorating law
and order situation in this area. This colony has been turned into a hell by a
group of naughty persons.

They roam here and there in the street and pass filthy remarks on the passers-
by. Even the girls and the ladies find it impossible to go alone in this area.

They have the fair of chain snatching and kidnapping also. During the days,
the bad characters gamble in the park and take wine. They lose their senses
and look like hungry foxes.

In reality ‘Goondaraj’ is rampant everywhere. Under these conditions, it is

not possible to take a healthy breath in the colony.

Kindly look into the matter personally and control the situation to avoids any
miss-happening.

Q: 1 Write long answers to the following questions?

Q: 1 Write a short report on any one of the following topics.

1. Electricity crisis in Pakistan.

2. The consequences of rapid population growth in Pakistan.

Electricity crisis in Pakistan

To:

WAPDA Officer,

WAPDA Town.

Lahore.

From: Report writer.

Subject: Electricity crisis in Pakistan.

Date: May 9th, 2022.

Introduction: This report is about electricity crisis in Pakistan. This report

is based on facts and figures.
Text / Report: The Electricity Crisis of Pakistan is due to the reason that
there is a lack of management and lack of foresight by the government of
Pakistan. It is also due to the reason that there is a lack of responsibility and
awareness among the citizens of the country.

All the resources that are available to Pakistan are way too out of reach as
they are simply too expensive or already acquired by some other country
which has planned their electricity consumption. Pakistan has failed to find
sufficient amount of energy resources as it had delayed in making better
decisions and planning the electricity consumption of the country.

Conclusion: Power theft is also a very big problem in Pakistan as the most
popular Kunda system is being used to steal electricity. If the government
takes certain steps to completely remove the transmission of electricity
through wrong methods it would be able to save at least 25% of its electric
power.

Suggestions: We should stress the governments to change their priorities.

They should establish cheap and durable power projects instead of expensive
projects. If we want to get rid of load shedding and provide electricity to
industry and trade, we have to depend on hydro, solar and wind energy. We
should set our priorities honestly and sincerely. We should save money and
produce investment opportunities for foreign countries. We should attract the
foreign investors to our energy projects so that we can be able to produce
energy according to our needs.
The consequences of rapid population growth in
Pakistan

To:
Population Welfare Department,

Islamabad.

From: Report writer.

Subject: The consequences of rapid population growth in Pakistan.

Date: May 9th, 2022.

Introduction: This report is about the consequences of rapid population

growth in Pakistan. This report is based on facts and figures.

Text / Report: Pakistan is the sixth by virtue of its population size. This
colossal population and galloping population growth rate consumes most of
financial and natural resources and leaves little for development. The
population growth is a challenge posed to Pakistan economy as it increases
expenditures on health, education infrastructure and basic provisions of life.
It also depletes natural resources, food, water etc. Development is the center
of all economic activities. However, development alone is futile when it does
not bring positive change in the lives of masses. Different studies have shown
that population growth negatively affects development process. In the
backdrop of Pakistan, this situation has been worsened as the problem was
never given due attention and gravity of the problem with its multi-
dimensional facets has become very complicated. Despite limited possible
government efforts, the fertility rate has not decreased to the stabilized
population growth rate at desirable level.
Conclusion: The huge population size deprived of health care, education and
employment facilities is a titanic load over the poorly managed economy
growing at snail pace. The empirical analysis done in this thesis supports the
hypothesis, that population growth is negatively related to factors involved in
sustainable economic development.

Suggestions: The government should take necessary and meaningful steps to

control the growing population. Government should promote family planning
for reduction of population. The government should launch an awareness
campaign to educate the people about population growth and its problems.
