Are you ready to pray?
Okay let us pray Yes sir

 Greetings

Good morning students. Good morning, sir Vin. Good Morning

Classmates.

 Checking of attendance

Is there any absent on this class today? None, sir.

Excellent

 Setting of Classroom Rules

Before we start our lesson, let us first recall
our classroom rules. But since this is our time Yes, sir.
to meet. You must remember our classroom
rules from now on is that okay?

Rule number 1 is to be active and

participative.
Rule number 2 is to respect your teacher and
your co students.
And lastly is to raise your hand when you
want to ask something or say something. Yes, sir.

Do you understand?

 Review or Recap
Sir we’ve learned about earthquakes and the
changes it may bring when it occurs
What was our last topic again? It is about?

Sir, Earthquake is the shaking of the ground

causing massive destruction when it is very
Yes! And what is an Earthquake? strong.

Very Good! Seems like you still remembered

our topic last time.

someone do first aid in another person?
Anyone in the class? Have you?
3. Explain
Let the students share their ideas on the class

(The teacher will assist the learners in the

Presentation. The teacher will give the
Correct scientific term for every needed
Terms and concepts.)

Examples:

Injury
First Aid

4. Elaborate
(Interaction Discussion)
Alright class! Very good! Now, let us find out
if your answers are all correct

Our lesson for todays is about Basic First Aid

along with some of the most common
injuries.

Let’s first define what is First and a First

Aider

 “FIRST AID” is an immediate and

temporary care response given to
someone who suddenly gets ill or
injured.
 “FIRST AIDER” is trained personnel
who performs/ executes the first aid.

Now that we’ve defined those two important

concepts, lets go to the objectives of first aid.
He reasons why we do First aid.

Objectives of First Aid

 To prolong life
 To alleviate suffering Yes, Sir! A good way to save lives of those in
 To prevent further injury need

With that objectives of First aid, can we say

that First Aid is a must to study?
Yes, Very Good!

Now let’s move on with the Roles and

Responsibilities of a First Aider.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. He/She bridges the gap between the
victim and the physician.
2. He/She does not compete with or takes
the place the service of the physician
3. He/She ensures safety of him/herself and
of the bystanders.4.
4. His/Her role ends as the services of the
physician begins.
5. He/She gains access to the victim
6. He/She determines any threats to
patient’s life.8.
7. He/She summons advanced medical care
as needed
8. He/She provides care needed by the
patient.
9. He/She records all the findings and care
given to the patient.

Aside from the roles and responsibilities, we

also have here the Characteristics of a Good Sir, because the first aider may not perform
First Aider. well, these may also affect the way he/she is
taking care of the victim!
Characteristics of First Aider
 Gentle-does not cause panic
(Now why do you think it is very important
for the first aider to not panic when doing
first aid?)

Very Good!

 Observant-notices all signs

 Resourceful-makes the best things at
hand
 Tactful-does not frighten victim
 Emphatic-comforts the victim
 Respectable-Professional and caring

Principles of First Aid (Do’s and Don’ts)

Do:
 Stay calm
 Reassure and comfort the victim
 Check for medical bracelet indicating
a condition such as epilepsy or
diabetes
 Loosen any tight clothing
 Keep the victim covered to reduce
shock
It is prohibited sir because giving an
Don’t: unconscious victim a food may cause him or
 Give food and drink to unconscious her to experience choking, He/she can be
victim choked by the foods.
(Question: why is it bad to give the
unconscious victim or make him/her drink
liquids?)

Yes, Ver Good!

 Moving the injured person, unless

you need to transfer him/her in the
recovery position.

Moving on, Let us know the procedures and

guidelines in doing or performing first aid.

First Aid Guidelines and Procedures

Now with correct procedure of First Aid, we
actually follow two things. First is the so-
called Primary Survey then Followed by the
Secondary Survey.

Primary Survey-Is done to a victim that is

unconscious and to immediately treat life-
threatening conditions.

Here in the primary survey, we strictly follow

the CABC method, wherein C stand for
consciousness, A for Airway, B for Breathing
of the victim and another C for Circulation.

Primary Survey Procedure:

 Check for consciousness- Ask
him/her if he can hear you
 Check and Open Airway- Tilt the head
of the victim to leave the airway clear.
 Check for Breathing- examine the
chest, sound of breathing, or feel the
breath on your cheek CPR stands for Cardio Pulmonary
 Check for circulation- Locate and Resuscitation Sir.
check pulse using middle/index
finger

(Moving on we have these Acronym CPR, now

who among you here can give me, what does
CPR stands for?)

Excellent!

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a

lifesaving technique useful in many
emergencies, including heart attack or near
drowning, in which someone’s breathing or
heartbeat has stopped or slowing.

This is a combination of chest compressions

and rescue breaths.

(There are certain conditions class where

CPR is needed, you as the first aider can
proceed to CPR if and only if the victim is…)

 The victim is UNCONSCIOUS.

 PULSE IS WEAK or NO PULSE
 NO Breathing / Difficulty in
Breathing. Sir, one possible reason is to avoid injuries
specially if the surface is rough or has
Step by Step Procedure on Administering something sharp like rocks it can cause
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation injury at the back of the victim.
1.) Put the person on his/her back on a firm
surface.
(Question: Why do we need to ensure that
the victims is placed down on a flat and firm
surface?)

Very Good!

2.) Locate hand position for compression by

drawing an imaginary line from armpit to
center chest for hand placement.
3.) Place heel of one hand on the lower part
of the breastbone.
4.) Put other hand over the fist, interlacing
your fingers for support.
5.) With the straight arms and shoulders
positioned over the victim’s chest, push down
on the victim’s chest.
For adult victims, push it down for at
least 2 inches or 5cm deep.
6.) Give 30 compressions in 18 second or less
(rate of 100 compressions in one minute) and
let chest rise completely between
compressions.
7.) After 30 compressions, give two rescue
breaths.
8.) Repeat cycle until help arrives or when
there are signs of movement.
Take not class that on performing the CPR,
your starting point is compression and
should end with ventilation.

START=COMPRESSION
END = VENTILATION

WHEN TO STOP CPR:

S – Spontaneous signs of life are restored
T – Turned over to medical services
O – Operator is exhausted
P – Physician takes responsibility
S – Scene becomes unsafe

DON’TS IN PERFORMING CPR:

 Do not be a Bender
 Do not be a Rocker
 Do not be a Jerker
 Do not be a Bouncer
 Do not be a Double Bouncer
 Do not be a Massager

(In short class do not play when doing CPR

take it as serious as possible because we are
on a life and death situation.)

CARE OF THE VICTIM AFTER SUCCESSFUL

Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
 Transfer in a secured and safe place.
 Place in side lying position-recovery
position.
 Wait for the emergency response unit
and continuously monitor the victim.

SECONDARY SURVEY-Only performed when

the victim is CONSCIOUS or has revived.

A. HISTORY CHECKING
Follow the mnemonic to easily perform the
steps.
S-ymptoms P-eriod of pain
A- llergy A-rea
M-edication I-ntensity
P-revious Illness N-ullify
L-ast Meal
E-vent prior to what happened
Yes, Sir!
B. CHECK FOR VITAL SIGNS such as the
pulse rate, temperature, respiration and skin
color.
C. HEAD TO TOE EXAMINATION- check the
head, neck, eyes, arms, chest, abdomen, legs,
and back.
(In other words class you examine the overall
status of the victim. Clear?)

SOFT TISSUE INJURIES

WOUNDS, is a break in the continuity of the

tissue of the body either external or internal.
Classifications:
 Closed Wound- Break in the
continuity of a body tissue without
the skin being broken down or teared.
Causes:
-Blunt object result in contusion or bruises
-Application of external forces

Signs and Symptoms;

-Pain and Tenderness
-Swelling
-Discoloration
-Hematoma

 Open Wound
