My experience when visit the Cupumanik Gallery and Gedung Indonesia Menggugat

The first place that I visited was Cupumanik. Cupumanik is a workshop and gallery where there are activities of the process of making wooden Puppets, final work of puppets, the process of puppets packing and making West Java handicrafts such as masks, calendar, key chains, and various others, which have the puppet motif. Culture of wooden puppets was properly preserved and maintained, so that no one else was stolen art from Indonesia or recognized by other nations. Wooden Puppet is an art originated from West Java. The shape of wodden puppet resembles doll made of wood (instead of leather as well as wayang kulit). So, like a doll or a puppet.Therefore, it is known as a wooden puppet. Wooden puppets made of wood such as Albasiah or Lame. The wood was chosen because of not too hard also not too soft and durable against weather influences. Therefore, it is easy to be carved and sculpted into wooden puppet. Making wooden puppet is very complicated and need accuracy to produce which perfect wooden puppet. The process of making wooden puppets as follows: The first step is the activity of woodcarving, which in this stage focused on whittling and carving up to like a required shape. Next step is sanding which aims to remove and smooth the wood surface, which has been carved. The next step is over coating process. Coloring puppet is an important part because it can produce a variety of characters. There are two over coating methods of wooden puppet as shading and filling. The Shading method uses paint clear varnish or transparent color gives the impression of which wooden puppet aimed at a more natural and

obvious wood fiber. It also would give the impression of live wooden puppet and produce antique puppets. The second method uses a white color as base color. In this method provides benefits to cover imperfections in wooden puppet but the puppet would see unnatural. After the base color to dry the next process is to draw eyes, eyebrows, lips, and motif at the head of the puppet, which is frequently used color such as black, red and Prada. The type of paint used is duko paint. This paint makes the puppet look brighter and easy to dry if compared with the wood paint. After that, puppets have been stained allowed drying. At the next stage puppet head linked to with the body and hands. In the palm of the hand was given such a small stick to move their hand puppet called Tuding. Next is making of cloth and glove. Useful to cover the bottom of the puppet. The last step is making of body decorations puppets. This ornament is made of velvet fabric which given the small beads. One set consists of cover decoration chest; waist covers the front and back, and two pieces of small scarf. Wooden puppet that has been completed assembled will be taken to the quality control. This section will check the wooden puppet include the shape, paint, clothing and ornaments. If they found conditions that do not appropriate the standard will be returned to production for repair. If thewooden puppet has passed the stage of quality control, furthermore wooden puppet was taken to packaging. Packaging is a variety of forms adapted to the size of the puppet as a tube. Finally, the wooden puppet is ready to sell. Marketing can be done directly on the gallery (direct selling) or by distributors/business partners. Marketing is currently the only satisfy the domestic market only. Furthermore, the second place I visited is one of the historic sites of Indonesiaa in central Bandung; its name is Gedung

Indonesia Menggugat its name. This building is a historical witness the birth of an idea "nation" that was read by the First Indonesian President Soekarno in the presence of the colonial courts (Landraad) together Maskoen, Gatot Angkoepradja, Soepriadinata, Sastromolejono, Sartono in 1930. The title of "Indonesia Menggugat" is base on Soekarnos Pledoi. The defense document become the record the political history of Indonesian people against imperialism as well as struggle for human dignity. We can learn from this historic site that the big nation is a nation that respects the history of his nation. Even not only respect, but also preserve it. Knowing the past actually helped explore the values implanted by the predecessors of this nation. In addition, we also aim to return the collective memory of society in the history of this site. This building invites us to brave sue on all nature colonialism and inequality that happened.
