Assignment 1 - Answer the following questions:

1. Which general or world view philosophy best fits with your own views of reality?
Why?

Existentialism is the philosophy of world view that best suits my personal

beliefs of reality since it states that the essence of reality is subjective and
depends on the individual. Also because the decisions we make determine who
we are in response to that reality.

2. What have you learned from the history of education that is related to these
metaphysical philosophies?

I learned that different educational aims, curricula, actions, and impacts

on western education exist in different periods of history.

3. It is said that an image is worth a thousand words. What might be your image
metaphor for each of these world or metaphysical philosophies?

My image metaphor for Existentialism

is apple.

4. Based on the lesson on symbolic-interactionist theory and the movie, The Little
Prince, what does this quote mean: “Words are a source of misunderstanding.” Any
personal message? Write it down.

That words are a cause of confusion, as stated in the statement, is something I

strongly agree with. Even if you conveyed your thoughts just via words, without
expressing them with emotion, tone, or gestures, it is possible for others to
misinterpret your meaning since every human being has a unique perception or
manner of receiving or encoding the message.

5. Explain how schools can help counteract the negative traits of Filipinos.

School can counteract the negative traits of Filipinos by seeking help from
an institution when planning seminars and workshops. They also need to
recognize and accept the flaws in Filipino character before you can work with
them. Assume that the person has a weakness before you can try to fix it. Lastly
they need to change the idea that Filipinos aren't good people by making it clear
that these traits can be changed.
