Field Monitoring Visit-Dhamar City Oct 2021

The field monitoring report summarizes visits by M&E teams to nutrition distribution points (FDPs) in Dhamar district, Yemen from October 28-31, 2021. The project aims to provide preventative nutrition interventions through 85 FDPs in Dhamar and Magrib Ans districts. Observations found distribution of supplements to women and children was proceeding smoothly, though some FDPs needed support to improve reporting. Issues were identified with damaged goods received from transporters and recommendations included improving transport standards and providing accountability posters. Overall, community health volunteers were working hard but requested more supplies like sterilizers.

5. Main Results
- During the visit, the process of distributing commodities to U2 and PLW beneficiaries are
proceeding in a smooth and perfect way.
- CHVs shows excellent work in registration(screening), awareness, and filling records and
reports. It has been noticed that some FDPs have at least 85% of reporting knowledge so
they need more onsite explanation and support for more understanding.
- Only two monthly reports were found in the FDPs( Alqasimi and Rashed) , but the other
visited FDPs their reports were taken earlier by YFCA senior nutrition coordinator.
- CHVs show unbelievable hard work, enthusiasm and willingness to help and volunteer.
- All visited CHVs confirmed that during the delivery of the commodities, the transporter has
no daily worker to unload nutrition boxes but children under the age of 18 he brought them
on his truck and also the kids near to the FDP who unloaded the boxes which wight is
between (14 – 15 KG) for each which are heavy for children.
- Some FDPs still receive damage and open sachets/boxes in the delivered commodities for
the second time from transporter (3 sachets WSB in Zaid Al-Moushiki FDP, 2 sachets WSB in
Al-Jama' Al-Kabeer and 2 sachets WSB in Omar Ben Abdulaziz FDP).
- CHVs at Othman Ben Afan FDP reported that more than 2 boxes of Plumpy Doz received
(open) (the outside box is open and the protection plastic bag inside also open) and missing

sachets in these boxes.

- CHVs of Al-Jama'a Al-Kabeer FDP reported that they have prevented from distributing
commodities because the FDP is in a local garden (26 September garden) unless they give
the garden guard a formal memo from Dhamar health office as requested as well as CHVs of
Omar Ben Abdulaziz schoo FDP also requesting them a formal memo.
- The hotline posters delivered only once in September so some of them still hanged out in
some FDPs but the others are shredded and need to be replaced.
- Beneficiaries who were existing in the FDP during the visit asked about the CFM but they
have no idea about it.
- Some visited FDPs didn't use the tank (bucket)(especially Aljama' Al-kabeer (which inside a
local garden and Omar Ben Abdulaziz which is inside a school) or provide water for
beneficiaries to wash their hands.
- Beneficiaries complaining from delivering the assistance without a plastic bags especially for
their kids (30 sachets) and most of the FDPs buy plastic bags for all beneficiaries from their
own money.
- All CHVs are keeping asking for sterilizers, tissues and gloves as they are in direct contact
with beneficiaries (PLW and kids).
6. Recommendations:

- To conduct daily visits by the CHVs supervisor to solve any obstacles and for more
clarifications when it needed about the records and reports towards the CHVs.
- Provide CFM posters (distribute for the FDPs whose their posters are damaged) such as
(hotline, complaint instruction, NO fee for the assistance…etc) to reinforce accountability.
- Change the transporter as he is not carrying for work/humanitarian standards, or to give
him an orientation of how this work is to be done based on the YFCA and humanitarian
standards.
- Follow CHVs in providing awareness on Corona virus procedures and YFCA hotline.
