Xerox Internal Use
Step 7: Click [Close] if you are preparing only one USB Flash Drive.

Step 8: Once formatted by the Setup Tool, the USB Flash Drive will contain 6 files listed above, they need to be
deleted and replaced by the installation files of the Fiery Server.

CAUTION: If your PWS is configured to view hidden files, DO NOT delete the file labeled LDLINUX.SYS.
Doing so will render the USB Flash Drive unusable and the process of formatting the USB
Flash Drive will need to be repeated.

23
Xerox Internal Use
Step 9: In this example, the [B35] C75 v1.0.zip was downloaded, unzipped, and copied to the root directory of the
USB Drive, replacing the files from Step 8. This USB Flash drive is now ready, but depending on what type
of Fiery software the USB contains, follow either Step 11 or Step 12.

Step 10: Continue to the next page for instructions on using the USB Flash Drive.

24
Xerox Internal Use

25
Xerox Internal Use
2.1.3 Having more than one Fiery Software using the same Flash Drive________

If the capacity of the USB Drive is large enough, more than one Fiery Flash Installer can reside on the Drive.

Step 13: In this example, we will start with the 6 files from the [B35] C75 v1.0 still in the root directory of a
32GB Drive.

Step 14: A folder is created with the same name as found on the St-Laurent Server, and the files moved into
the folder.

26
Xerox Internal Use
Step 15: Additional USB Flash Installation files are downloaded, unzipped, and placed into folders that have
the same name as those found on the St-Laurent Server for clarity.
In this state, the USB Drive will not work as the Fiery will only execute files in the root directory, it
will ignore anything inside of a folder.

Step 16: If a server for the 700 is to be loaded, simply move (do not copy), the files from the [MMX] folder
to the root directory and follow in the instructions at Step 11. Once the Fiery has been loaded, the
files should be moved back into the folder to eliminate confusion in the future.

2.2 How to Use the USB Fiery Clone Tool for Embedded (Bustled) Servers_____

Important Information
_____________________________________________________________________

This method for loading software will install a clone image of a working Controller with the latest service packs as
described in Step 1.

Items 2 and 3 can be found on the St-Laurent Server at: https://13.122.0.91 → DFE Software → Fiery → Color Fiery
Software → Fiery Clone Tool and USB Setup Tool 2.0.21 with Factory Images.

DO NOT change the name of the folders created by the Fiery Clone Tool.

DO NOT have more than one folder from a particular Fiery model on the same USB Drive, this will confuse the Tool as it
will not know which Clone image to install.

Additional requirements: 2 USB Flash Drives

During internal testing using the Kingston DataTraveler USB Flash Drive, restoring of the 700 DCP was not successful
when other Clone folders were on the USB Drive, it worked fine if only the FCT files and 700 DCP folder were on the
USB.

If you have this issue, you will need to either remove all other folders when loading a 700 DCP, or purchase a second
USB Flash Drive specifically for this model.

Preparation
_____________________________________________________________________

Step 1: These instructions will prepare your USB to load the following Fiery Controllers.

a) [MMX] 700DCP v1.5 SP12

b) [XYY] XC550 v1.1 SP9
c) [B3G] EXi 570 v1.0 SP3
d) [B35] C75 v1.0 SP6
e) [R7B] EX-i C60/C70 v1.0 SP2
f) [BP2] 700i DCP v1.0 SP7
g) [P2X] EX-i 80 v1.2 with 13 patches

Step 2: Clone Image a) will require a 4GB USB Flash Drive.

Step 3: Clone Images b) through g) as a complete set will require a 32GB USB Flash Drive.

Step 4: Extract the Fiery USB SetupTool v2.0.21.zip file and install the Setup Tool, then launch it using
Start → All Programs → EFI → Fiery USB Setup Tool.

28
Xerox Internal Use
Step 5: From the same folder as the Setup Tool, drag and drop the FCT_forEmbeddedSystem_image_1.0.iso
file directly in this window as shown above.

Step 6: Insert the USB Flash Drive to your computer’s USB port.

Step 7: Once Steps 5 and 6 are completed, click on the [Next] button.

29
Xerox Internal Use
Step 8: Formatting should take less than 1 minute to complete.

Step 9: Click [Close] if you are preparing only one USB Flash Drive.

30
Xerox Internal Use
Step 10: Once formatted by the Setup Tool, the USB Flash Drive will contain the files above, they are
significantly smaller than the USB installation files because they are only used to get the Fiery ready
for either Cloning or Restoring.

Step 11: The Clone Image folders can now be copied to the USB Flash Drive.

31
Xerox Internal Use
Step 12: Unzip the Clone Images and copy the folders to the USB Drive.

This folder contains the expected configuration sheets after cloning

[B3G] EXi 570 v1.0 SP3
