1. PREFACE:

Pre- Commissioning cleaning (Detergent flushing & Acid cleaning) of Butadiene pipe lines loop
2 at IMC LIMITED, APM TERMINALS, PIPAVA PORT GUJARAT. The objectives of the process
are to remove Rust, Oil & Grease, and other impurities. The complete process is carried out as
per approved procedure by M/s. IMC LIMITED, & M/s. ARUDRA ENGINEERS PVT LTD.

The Detergent flushing process was carried with coronil-100, this was followed by acid
cleaning carried with coronil-92B and CITRIC ACID, and passivation was done by SODIUM
NITRATE and TSP. The entire system cleaning was carried out as per the following steps;

 Cold water Flushing


 Heated soft water Flushing.
 Detergent Flushing
 Heated water flushing
 Inhibited Acid cleaning
 Mild citric rinsing and Passivation.

2. PROTOCOL REPORT
System Volume: 275 M3 and temporary pipe volume: approx. 15 M3
1 Cold water(service water) flushing was carried out on 27.08.2018
2 Heated soft water flushing was carried out on 28 .08.2018
3 DEGREESING of BUTADINE Pipelines loop2 was carried out from 29.08.2018
Chemicals used coronil-100(0.05-0.1%) = 150 liters.
4 Pigging after Detergent flushing was carried out on 29.08.2018
5 ACID CLEANING:
Note: Loop 2 has been divided into Two parts due to temperature not attained on
vapor line as per the approved procedure.
LOOP II => LOOP II A, LOOP II B.
7 LOOP II A:
7a.ACID CLEANING:
Inhibited acid cleaning was carried out for Loop II A on 30.08.2018
Coroni-92 B(0.2%) > 340 Litters
Citric acid (3%) > 5500 kgs
TSP > 600 KGS
PIGGING was carried out at ship loading line on 31.08.2018

7b.CITRIC RINSING:
Citric acid Rinse was carried out on 31.08.2018. chemicals were used citric acid
(0.2%) =340kgs, TSP=150kgs.

7c.PASSIVATION:
Passivation was carried out on 31.08.2018.
chemicals used were : 1)Sodium nitrate (3%) = 5000 kgs
2)TSP = 2250 KGS

LOOP II B:
8a.ACID CLEANING:
Inhibited acid (Citric acid 2-3%) cleaning was carried out for Loop II B on 01.08.2018
Coroni-92 B (0.2%) > 260 Litters
Citric acid (3%) > 3900 kg
TSP > 850 Kgs
8 8b.CITRIC RINSING:
Citric acid Rinse was carried out on 01.09.2018. chemicals were used citric acid
(0.2%) =260kgs, TSP=100kgs.
8c.PASSIVATION:
Passivation was carried out on 01.09.2018.
chemicals used were : 1)Sodium nitrate (3%) = 3900 kgs
2)TSP = 3750 KGS

INSPECTION& CONCLUSION:
The pre-commissioning Detergent flushing & acid cleaning of Butadiene
pipelines loop 2 were successfully completed. And the completion criteria were
as per the approved procedure. The completion criteria were jointly checked by
M/S IMC LTD, M/S. DNV, M/S ARUDRA and JD Engg (OPaL Surveyor).

1.COLD TREATED WATER FLUSHING

15:45 System filling started with raw water (All circuit open)
17:50 System filling completed and continuous flushing started
22:10 Water Clarity found ok continuous flushing stopped and draining started
23:20 System drain completed.
2. PIGGING:
27/08/2018 & 28/08/2018

23:40 System filling started with Treated water in order to completely remove service water
from system through pigging.
01:20 System filling stopped for pig insertion at jetty side
02:30 Pigging started from jetty side after completion of pig insertion (10” ship loading line)
05:10 Pig received at receiver end and pump have stopped
05:20 4” pigging started in precooling line from jetty side along with heating.
06:20 4” pig received at receiver end and pump stopped along with burner to remove PIG.

3. HOT Treated WATER FLUSHING :28 .08.2018

07:00 System recirculation started.


07:15 Heating system started to raise the temperature
