Activity 1 - Communication and It's Elements

This document contains responses to questions about communication skills. It discusses different types of noise, including environmental, psychological, and physiological noise. It explains how verbal and nonverbal communication can help build relationships through better understanding and connection. While nonverbal communication can transmit emotions immediately, its meanings can sometimes be ambiguous. Developing strong communication skills can aid in personal and professional success by strengthening relationships and helping people understand each other to avoid conflicts. It is possible to be assertive while also being respectful by focusing on expressing feelings about a situation rather than a person. Effective communication requires being in control of one's emotions so that emotional awareness allows understanding of both one's own and others' feelings.

2. How do verbal and nonverbal communication help build or nurture
relationships?

- Verbal and nonverbal communications helps us to have a better

understanding and effective and deep connection to others.

3. Discuss: “Nonverbal communication is more immediate and more

ambiguous in meaning than verbal communication.”

- Nonverbal communication is more immediate than verbal communication, but

its meaning is sometimes more vague, despite the fact that some forms of
nonverbal communication, such as eye contact, can transmit emotions more
effectively than words.

4. How can your communication skills help you become successful in your life?

-Successful communication can strengthen personal and professional

relationships. They can help us understand people and circumstances that occur
on a daily basis in our personal lives. Developing communication skills can assist
us in avoiding disputes, reaching compromises, and making better decisions.

5. Can you be assertive and respectful at the same time? Explain your point.

- This is something a lot of people struggle with, including me, but it is an

important part of being assertive. You can still be a gentle person and express
your dissatisfaction. A good way to think about it is you are expressing your
feelings about something and not someone.
6. Do you agree with the idea that to be an effective communicator, you have
to be in control of your emotions? Why or why not?

- Yes I agree, because feelings play a big role in communication. Emotional

awareness, or the ability to understand feelings, will help you succeed when
communicating with other people. If you are emotionally aware, you will
communicate better. You will notice the emotions of other people, and how the
way they are feeling influences the way they communicate. You will also better
understand what others are communicating to you and why. Sometimes,
understanding how a person is communicating with you is more important than
what is actually being said.
