Performance-Based Assessment 11.3.1

The document provides data on the number of students enrolled each day over a 6 day period at a school. It includes: - A table showing the number of students enrolled each day, ranging from 20 on Saturday to 79 on Monday. - Calculations of the probability distribution and determining that Monday has the highest probability of most enrollees at 1/6. - Computation of the mean as 43 and variance as 346.67 for the probability distribution. - The recommendation to enroll a sister on Saturday since it had the lowest enrollment of 20 students and would be most convenient with the least busy campus.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD-BASED ASSESSMENT 11.3.

1
STATISTICS AND PROBABILITY
(Performance Task Sheet)

Name: Dignos, Mariane Niño M. Section: 11A2 - Taylor

Materials: calculator, performance task sheet.

Last school year 2017-2018 in Canduman National High School, 6 days
were allotted for the enrolment of Grade 11. The enrolment was from 8 -
12 noon for 6 days. Below is the table showing the number of enrolees in
each day.
Monda Tuesda Wednesd Thursda Saturd
Day Friday
y y ay y ay
Number of
79 40 50 43 40 20
Students (X)

a. Complete the probability distribution of the random variable X that

denotes the number of students observed buying at a school canteen.
Day Number of Students Probability
X P(X)
Monday 79 1/6
Tuesday 40 1/6
Wednesda 50 1/6
y
Thursday 43 1/6
Friday 40 1/6
Saturday 20 1/6

b. What is the probability of the day which has the highest number of
enrolees? (1 point)
- The probability that a day has the highest number of enrollees is 1/6 which is Monday that
has 79 enrollees among the six days given for enrollment
c. What is the mean and variance of the probability distribution? (Attach
your solution.)
X P(X) X · P(X) X -µ (X -µ)2 (X -µ)2·

d. If Canduman National High School will have the same number of days
for the enrolment of Grade 11 next school year and you have a sister to
enrol in Grade 11, what day will you choose to enrol your sister? Explain
your choice.
- The day i will choose for her to enroll will be Saturday since it's the least number of enrollees and
the process of the enrollment would become quicker and convenient since the campus will not be
busy and full at that time.
