Configuring means that the operating parameters of the module and/or instrument are set up to correspond to the measuring task, e.g. the sensor type, measuring range, filter frequencies, etc. In addition you have the option that The Rack Layout — can be displayed, — can be stored in a file together with a comment, and the stored file can be printed out. Attention must be paid to the fact that the sum of the nominal length of the sen- sor cable and the nominal length of the extension cable is always equal to the no- minal length of the measuring chain. If, for reasons of design, junction heads were not used, a plug protective housing must be installed within the installation train, = Allinstallation parts must be fastened securely. For mounting of the oscillator protective housings, the cable length between sensor and oscillator of 5 m + 0.6 m must be considered. Any extension of the cables is not possible. Excessive length of extension cable is to be ac- commodated in the oscillator protective housing. It is indispensable for do- cumentation, commissioning and for the service departments. Physical influences on measurement with displacement sensors ‘Shaft material Schenck displacement measuring chains are tuned to the material number 1.7225 (42 CrMo 4) in accordance with DIN 17200, corresponding to AISI/SAE 4140. For sensitivity of your measuring chain and further shaft materials and their sen- sitivities please refer to the data sheet "Non-contacting displacement sensors". Measuring track In the case of the non-contacting measuring method in accordance with the eddy-current principle, the measured values may be falsified. The falsification of the measured values is to be attributed to properties of the measuring object. They are referred to as RUNOUT and a distinction is made between mechanical RUNOUT and electrical RUNOUT. When screwing in the displacement sensor care must be taken not to twist the sensor cable and to avoid any contact of the sensor tip with the measuring track. ‘The gap voltage for the working range is specified in the annexed data sheet "Non- contacting displacement sensors" ‘As soon as the displacement sensor has been adjusted for the working range, it must be secured by means of a counternut.
