3. PROVISIONING DOCUMENTATION
3.1. FORECASTING MODEL PARAMETERS
These parameters drive the calculation process that determines
recommended quantities. They are discussed and agreed upon
with the customer – typically within the Material Readiness Set-up
Meeting.
The customer can decide whether the calculation shall be based
on the Spare Parts Class Code (SPC) of each part or on a defined
price range.

chance to have the selected spare on stock following the Poisson
distribution of spares demand. Reasonable protection levels range
from 80-96% and can be allocated individually to parts according
to their essentiality code and price level profile.
MINIMUM ANNUAL DEMAND
Only parts with an annual demand above this threshold value will
get the first part allocated to the stock. All further quantities are
subject to protection level considerations
PROTECTION LEVEL TOLERANCE
This value determines how much tolerance may be applied to the
protection level in cases where 1 spare less would satisfy the

days (TAT = TT + MST). Choosing the TAT as an entry parameter
the calculation of the recommendations disregards the TT and the
individual part’s MST and sets the TAT as a global value for all
rotable or repairable spares.
TT
Transit Time - the value describes the elapsed time in calendar
days from removal of the defective part over airline administration,
shipping to and back from the repair shop and customs until the
repaired item is back on the airline’s shelf ready for use. Adding a
part’s individual MST creates an itemised TAT. The use of this
parameter implies exact knowledge of the duration of the process
described above. The TT can best be given by the airline.

adding further spares to obtain sufficient protection in line with the
