Facilitator: Mr. Rommel Nabaong         Year. & Section: AR 1-E

1. What can you say about the National Security in the Philippines?
In terms of the National Security in the Philippines, I think it is excellent when it comes
to the protection of every citizen in our country. Because of the National Security in the
Philippines, we Filipinos have the freedom to express ourselves freely. It allows us to live
peacefully and away from any threat of other nations or wars.

2. What are the elements of the National Security and give an example of each
element?

● Socio-Political Stability
It is to achieve peace and harmony among all Filipinos, regardless of creed,
ethnic origin, and social status.
Example: Any projects of the government that integrates all the concerns of every
citizen and that have an equal privilege to everyone.
● Territorial Integrity
This means that the territory of the country is intact and under the effective
control of the government. It is to ensure the permanent inviolability of our
national territory and its effective control by the Government and the State.
Example: The control of the government on the east and west Philippine sea
where our fishermen have all the access to get resources from within.
● Economic Solidarity
It is to collectively pursue and build the economy to be strong, capable of
supporting national endeavors and derives its strength from the solidarity of our
people who have an organic stake in it through participation and ownership.
Example: Fairtrade organizations form  part of the solidarity economy, as their
aim is to express practical solidarity with farmers in the developing world by
paying them fair prices for their produce.
● Ecological Balance
This dimension of national security seeks to support development that is
environmentally sustainable for the benefit of the nation and the people who
depend on it.
Example: Creating advocacies that promote awareness about the environment
and human resources.

● Cultural Cohesiveness
This element implies that the Filipinos have shown their collective sense of value
to the principles of freedom and human dignity of a person. These inherent
manifestations of the Filipino values have been shown when our forebears had
fought for our freedom against their colonizers, authoritarian rulers, and
oppressive powers as exemplified by the resistance of Lapu-Lapu, Jose Rizal,
Apolinario Mabini, Andres Bonifacio, and Jose Abad Santos.
Example: Taking into actions of “Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan.”
● Moral-Spiritual Consensus
The Filipino people must be propelled by the national vision inspired and
manifested in words and deeds, by patriotism, national pride, and the
advancement of our national goals and interests. The primordial element for our
national survival is national unity, where the people have become proud of their
country, their culture and tradition, and their history.
Example: Taking and sharing with others of all the good moral and spiritual
values that our history or ancestors imply.
● Peace and Harmony
The Philippines as a democratic country is committed to world peace and the
preservation of world order.
Example: Taking no wars against other nations or countries.
Having alliance and good relationship with other nation.
