IGCSE Subject Selection Booklet-2022
IGCSE Subject Selection Booklet-2022
The syllabus of each of the IGCSE subjects will be covered in two years. Students need to
have completed the first year of an IGCSE subject at a satisfactory level, before they can
continue with the second year of IGCSE in that subject.
Students will not be able to request a change in subject once the course has begun, so it is
very important to think wisely, discuss the options with many people and choose with a vision
to committing yourself to your choices. Subjects are taught through the medium of English,
and at the end of the two-year programme, students will sit for externally assessed and
internationally recognised examinations accredited and set by the University of Cambridge
Assessment International Examinations (CAIE).

Points to remember while Selecting Optional Subjects
The ICE Award gives students recognition of a broad education. You should try to select
subjects that will give you eligibility for ICE. International Certificate of Education (ICE)
is awarded to students who take up at least seven subjects in IGCSE which includes two
languages from Group-1, one subject each from the other four groups and the seventh subject
from any of the five groups.
In making decisions about selection of subjects, parents and students should take the following
into account.
Students should ask teachers and parents for information and advice about subjects. They
should not choose a subject because a friend does. They need to think of their own goals,
interests, and abilities.
Students will not be allowed to change any subject once the course has begun.
