I. Objectives
 identify the appropriate demonstrative pronouns in a sentence, {This, That}
 use demonstrative pronouns in a sentence {This/That}
 show respect to one’s ownership or belongings

II. Subject Matter:Using Demonstrative Pronouns {This/That}


References: K to 12 CG in English 2, LM pp.247-249;
Materials: real objects, charts, pictures, boxes with objects inside
Value Focus:
Respect for one’s belongings

III. Procedure:
A. Preparation/Introduction
1. Action Song
2. Drill
 Provide each group with pictures. Let them find the words scattered on the
table that named the picture. The first group who could find it first will be
the winner.

B. Teaching/Modeling
 Show pictures to the pupils.
1. This is aball.

 Havethe pupils read the sentences after the teacher.
 Say: This and That are called demonstrative pronouns.

C. Guided Practice
1. Group the pupils into two:
 Group Awill holda picture of a mango and say, “This is a mango.”
 Group Bwill point the picture of a mango Group A is holding and
say, “That is a mango.”

2. Pair Work.
Say: Look for a partner. Draw something that tells about the sentence.
This is a ball. (The pupils draw a boy/girl holding a ball).
That is a ball. (The pupils draw a boy/girl pointing a ball).

3. Each pupil will go to the front and pick any object from the box using This
and point the object pasted on his/her chair using That.

D. Independent Practice
Directions: Write Thisor Thatto complete the sentence.

1. ________ hat is big for me.

2. ________ is a falling star.

3. ________ is a sandwich.

4. ________ is a heavy book bag.

5. ________ is a bird.
