March 2022
Dear Parent/Carer
I write to inform you of an exciting opportunity for February half term 2023. We are proposing to organise a skiing holiday
to Austria, the price of which would be £1150 (based on a minimum of 35 students participating). This price would include
all transport, full board accommodation, insurance, ski equipment hire, evening entertainment, lessons and guided skiing,
lift pass and ski test awards. Expenses not covered in the price would be the optional hire of ski clothing and spending money
– you may also wish to arrange for your child to have lessons at the dry ski slope nearer the time. Please see the attached
sheet for confirmation of these details.
You may be aware that in recent years many students have travelled to Austria and enjoyed a wonderful experience so we
hope that this venture will be well supported. The resort for this year’s visit will be in the Wilder Kaiser ski area staying in a
Hotel in Niederndorf. I do appreciate that this is a lot of money so I have included a breakdown of payment due dates so
that you are fully aware of the commitment:
ParentPay will open for payment from 9.00 am on Thursday 31 March 9.00am We anticipate a large response to this
exciting opportunity, if your child would like a place on this trip please pay £150 via ParentPay as soon as possible from this
date. Please note that places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and once all places have been filled the
facility to pay will be withdrawn. If you should have any difficulty accessing your ParentPay account, please contact the
Finance Department on 01480 223337.
• at least 6 months left on your passport when you travel to most EU countries
• a passport that’s less than 10 years old (even if it has 6 months or more left)
Passport holders who do not meet these criteria, may be denied entry to these countries and should consider renewing
their passport before travel. Please check your child/rens passport to ensure they meet this criteria.
All students will require either a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC).
Replacement cards may be ordered from the following website: https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/healthcare-
abroad/apply-for-a-free-uk-global-health-insurance-card-ghic/. Please note that applications may take some time to process
due to high demand. Students will also require a passport (in date with at least 6 months remaining) in order to travel. These
details will be requested by the travel company as soon as the places on the trip are confirmed. Passport applications are
currently taking six weeks so early applications are advised. Currently it is a requirement of the French, Belgian, German and
Austrian governments that all travellers be fully vaccinated with both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and can evidence this
through the NHS Covid Pass.
If your application is successful, this deposit will be non-refundable. Please note that all monies paid in are sent to the tour
operator and, therefore, will not be refundable except in the event that the circumstances of your cancellation are covered
by insurance. Should your application be unsuccessful, this deposit will of course be refunded. In order to participate in this
trip, students are expected to have a good record of co-operative behaviour within the school as a whole and a positive
attitude towards all PE lessons.
Participation on a visit is a privilege, we therefore reserve the right to not take any student whose behaviour is considered
in any way antisocial or unsafe. This could relate to behaviour over a period of time or a one off serious incident. The
Academy is required to undertake a risk assessment for all trips and visits. We cannot allow any student to take part in an
activity unless any risk involved is assessed as being low.
If your child/ren is eligible for Pupil Premium funding, you may be able to access financial support for the trip. Pupil Premium
funding is available for students who have been eligible for free school meals in the last 6 years, are looked after or have
parents in the armed forces. Further advice on eligibility for Pupil Premium funding is available on our website. If you are not
eligible for Pupil Premium but are currently experiencing financial hardship, the Academy may be able to support you. If you
are applying for financial support, please pay a £5 deposit and email Mrs K Hawkins via [email protected].
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any further queries regarding this proposed trip.
Yours faithfully
Miss K Dixon
