Estimation
The word Estimation here refers to Material Take off (or) Quantity take off, of the
Entire project, for the concern service.

Departments:
Tender Department:

In this department, project will be done which are in tender stage and will be
closed in specified time and date provided by the main contractor, with project
final cost. The main aim for tender stage is to get an overview cost of the project
(Complete Building) and changes if any with any services.

Job in Hand Department:

After getting awarded the project in tender stage, the project will be forwarded
from the tender department to the project department. So now the project
becomes job in hand to the company.
Job in hand exactly refers to the Execution or installation of the project.

Steps to Start the Project:


Document Extraction
Documents are received generally in DVD, CD or by Email, Link.
Download or Copy the Documents.
Check all the documents of the project.
Copy the related document in your folder (generally in the company’s server).
Check for closing date of the project if the project is in tender stage.
Always check for Consultant, Client/Owner, and Main Contractor.
Study the project.
Study Equipment Schedule.
Study Legends, abbreviation and symbols used in the project.
Study Bill of Quantity thoroughly.
Read all the drawings.
Check for revision(R), Issues or Addendum (Add).
Note: Never disturb the Original File

Divisions to find out the particular services.


Division 21: - Fire Fighting

Division 26: - Electrical

How to Float the Enquiry to Suppliers by Email:


Example: Floating Inquiry for Booster pump for XYZ Project
Subject: RFQ (Request for Quotation) – Booster Pump for XYZ Project.
Attachments: Specification for the Booster pump + Equipment schedule + BOQ (Booster
pump) + Drawing in which Booster pump are shown.
Body of the Email:
Dear Engineer,
With reference to the above mentioned subject please quote your best competitive price
for Booster pump.

Bill of Quantity (BOQ):


A bill of quantities (BOQ) is a document used in the construction industry in
which Materials, Accessories, and Equipment’s (and their costs) are itemized.

Equipment Schedule:
An equipment schedule is a list of the Equipment’s present in the project.
