Power Electronics Lab Assignment-XII: Objective

This document provides instructions for simulating a 3-phase half-wave fully controlled AC-DC converter in MATLAB Simulink. It describes the objective of simulating and analyzing the converter. It lists the required components as MATLAB Simulink and shows diagrams of the rectifier classification chart and 3-phase input. It provides steps for setting up the simulation, including required blocks from the Simulink library and their locations. Circuit diagrams show the Simulink model for the converter. Scope output waveforms are displayed for firing angles of 0, 30, and 60 degrees. Students are tasked to simulate configurations for all firing angles and plot signals, then calculate average current for a battery charging circuit.

Student Task:

1. Simulate the configuration for all angles (0, 30, 60, and 90) and plot source signal, output
voltage and output current for load R and RL. Set R=20Ω and L=50mH.

2. Figure below shows a battery charging circuit using SCRs. The input voltage from neutral
to any line is 230V V(rms) and firing angle for thyristor is 30 0 . Find the average current
flowing through the battery. (Iavg= 19.95A).
