For our first activity, I need a pairs to play this game called - Link-up games.
So, in this game I will have a pairs for participant and both students will write any
sentence come up in their mind.

for or so nor
and but yet

But the twist is I have 7 different words here and with the pairs participant only the
one member will have the chance to choose with the given words. After they write
their own sentence they are going to link-up using their chosen word and the winner is
either the most funniest or the most surprising link-up words.

C. Presentation

What have you noticed in our activity?

Very good. We used a word to link-up or join two different sentences.

The joiner words we used to link-up the two different sentences are Conjunctions.

What is conjunctions - are words used as joiners.

There are 4 kinds of conjunctions.

1) Coordinating Conjunctions
2) Correlative Conjunctions
3) Conjunctions Adverb
4) Subordinating Conjunctions

Different kinds of conjunctions join different kinds of grammatical structures.

In today’s lesson we are going to tackle about Coordinating conjunction.

D. Discussion

What is coordinating conjunctions based on the activity we have done?

Coordinating conjunctions - join equals to one another:

Words to words: Most children like cookies and milk.

Phrases to phrases: The gold is hidden at the beach or by the lakeside.

Clauses to clauses: What you say and what you do are two different things.

And it can be also - go in between items joined, not at the beginning or end; I like
coffee, but I don’t like tea.
The English Language has 7 coordinating conjunctions, and they are just easy to
remember if you can just remember FANBOYS.

For - Explains the reason or purpose (just like because)

Ex. I go to the park every Sunday, for I love to watch the ducks on the lake.

AND - Adds one thing to another

Ex. I go to the park every Sunday to watch the ducks on the lake and the men playing
soccer.

NOR - Used to present an alternative negative idea to an already stated negative idea
Ex. I don’t go for the fresh air nor really for the ducks. Honestly, I just like the
soccer.

BUT - Shows contrast

Ex. The soccer in the park is entertaining in the winter, but it’s better in the heat of
summer.

OR - Presents an alternative on a choice

Ex. The men play on teams: shirts or skin.

YET - Introduces a contrasting idea that follows the preceding idea logically (similar
to “but”)
Ex. I always take a book to read, yet I never seem to turn a single page.

SO - Indicates effect, result or consequences

Ex. I have started dating one of the soccer players, so I have now a excuse to watch
