Define GIS and understand the concepts of GIS.
Understand what is meant by Geo-referenced (geo-spatial) data;
Understand the basic components of GIS.
Understand data input in GIS (i.e. manual digitising; automatic digitizing
and digitising errors)
Understand data analysis in GIS (i.e. database query; overlay operations;
network analysis; buffer operations; Digital Terrain Model (DTM))
Understand data management in GIS
Understand data output and visualization in GIS as well as the relation
between GIS and Cartography
Understand data quality in GIS and the sources of errors in GIS
Understand map projections and map design concepts
