A Lesson Plan serves as the blueprint of every educator’s teaching process. It is an essential
step for every teacher to prepare and organize their lesson as well as the flow of their class before
the actual teaching itself takes place. Strategic lesson planning is a skill that every teacher must
have to provide their students a well-constructed and effective learning environment. Hence, a
lesson plan is not only beneficial to the teacher but also to the students since it will also contribute
to the structure of their learning experience. Therefore, a teacher must prepare a lesson plan before
teaching every lesson because a lot more things go into consideration than mere teaching anything
you like to the students. In other words, the complexity of the teaching and learning processes are
needed to be understood before establishing a good lesson plan.
A teacher must be aware of the principles of Lesson Planning. For an instance, the basic
structure of a lesson plan must strictly include the (1) learning objectives, (2) activities, and (3)
assessment. Each component holds a significant role in the construction of the lesson plan.
However, the most dominant of all the three components is the learning objectives. Learning
objectives refer to the statements in which plays as an outcome declaration that precisely
encompasses the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that the students will be able to demonstrate after
receiving instruction. The basic structure of a learning objective includes (1) what the students will
do, (2) the information they need to learn, and (3) how to measure what they have done and learn.
As aforementioned, the teacher should consider many things in creating a lesson plan. It is
important to bear in mind the three areas of teaching and learning which refers to (1) knowledge,
(2) attitude, and (3) skills. It is important for the teacher to bear such things in making a lesson
plan before teaching because these three components should never be overlooked. In doing so, the
teacher must consider the correlation of their learning objectives to the learning competencies
given by the curriculum guide. This brings us to achieving the characteristics of a good learning
objectives for a good lesson plan. Instructional objectives should be able to describe the teacher’s
intentions for the students’ growth and change. Thus, learning objectives should be S.M.A.R.T.
and consistent its correlating learning competency or goal.
In the teaching process, the very first step is not about “how to teach” but it should be about
“how to plan.” Teaching, in the most accurate sense, is a process of promoting growth and change
in the students. Meanwhile, learning refers to the process of acquiring new understanding,
knowledge, behaviors, skills, values, and even preferences. Therefore, the teaching and learning
processes would not be possibly effective without the presence of a lesson plan. As a future teacher,
learning the skill of strategic lesson planning is the foundation of my ability as a professional.
Teaching is not just a simple task of reporting information in front of the students, but it is an
experience that is founded by intricate thinking and planning. In conclusion, there is no good
learning and teaching experience without a good lesson plan.

• Learning Objective C aims for the students to learn about the current problems faced by
the education sector of the Philippines through researching, while Learning Objective D
aims for the students to generate their own solutions to the problems they have researched
through reporting. These two learning objectives can be targeted by the same learning
activity since the activity involves both the researching process and reporting process:
hence, giving the students two learning objectives in one activity and assessment.
