Laser Scan Scope of Work

This document outlines requirements for laser scanning and creating an as-built 3D model of an offshore oil and gas facility. It specifies that the contractor will conduct a laser scan survey of the entire facility, including exterior perspectives and details. It also requires the contractor to transform the laser data into an intelligent 3D model using specific software. The 3D model must meet technical accuracy standards and include tagging of all piping, equipment, instruments, and other items to extract engineering drawings without errors. The contractor must complete the laser scanning within 14 days and the 3D model within 30 days, and deliver all data and models to the client according to set formats and standards.

MODEL REQUIREMENTS

1 Introduction

Laser Scanning and 3D Model Scope

As part of information generation & verification activities, Contractor shall

conduct 3D Laser Scanning of all parts of the Meren facility (see attached
drawings for details of the facility) in the following stages:

 Laser Scan survey of the entire platform, including the exterior

perspectives of the living quarters and helideck.

 Creation of high-quality, high-resolution laser datasets with color

panoramic views of the facility. Details of Laser Scanning
Requirements are contained in Section 2.

 Transformation of the laser datasets into an intelligent 3D model of the

entire facility (See Section 3 for As-Built 3D Model Requirements).

 3D Model shall be created using AVEVA E3D.

The laser scanning and modeling guideline was developed to communicate

minimum expectations in the development of 3D as-built models to support
engineering design efforts.
This guideline will be used in-conjunction with industry standards and best practices.
To achieve maximum/detail coverage of the scope of scan, CNL representative
(piping 3D SME) shall be present with contractor during scanning on site to generate
survey key plan.

2 Technical Requirements

 Contractor shall select a monument that matches the existing “Plant Co-
ordinate System” for easy integration into CNL’s existing General
Arrangement Drawings.
 The native point cloud data shall be dense enough for easy identification of
every existing component and visible tags, while in a zoomed-in state within a
CAD platform.
 The color properties of the point cloud dataset must be retained.
 The quality of the point cloud data shall be enough to accomplish a
dimensional accuracy to the nearest 1 mm during engineering; this is the
tolerance for design engineering.
 The native registered point cloud dataset shall be delivered to CNL as part of the
deliverables in both “.ptx” and “.lfd” formats. The dataset in “.ptx” format shall be
partitioned per the plot “Key Plan” for better manageability. In addition, the native
unregistered point cloud raw data shall be delivered to CNL at the end of the
project.
 During scanning, contractor shall make every effort to set the camera angles
to capture equipment/instrument tags that would be visible/viewable within

the high- resolution Leica TrueView plug-in or equivalent application.

 Point cloud registration shall be done within the “LFM Server” environment to
enable CNL review the registration accuracy (contractor shall include the
LFM project data from registration, along with the other deliverables to
facilitate faster CNL review process). This can be achieved as shown below:

1 - Raw laser scan point cloud

data

4 - Export to PTX format.

2 - Import to Leico Cyclone,

Faro Scene, etc
5 - Import PTX to LFM Sever
Gateway; perform the registration

3 - Burn picture properties of the

point cloud

3 Functional Requirements to the As-built 3D Model

Creation of the 3D Model shall take into account the following:

The “As-Built 3D Model” shall be in a state such that all Isometrics, Plot Plans,
Equipment Layouts and General Arrangement Drawings can be extracted without
errors and basic annotation be displayed in the Navisworks viewer.
 As a minimum, piping data from the line list/P&ID shall form the bases of the
attributes that are incorporated in the “3D As-Built Model” for all piping ½” and
above. Sample P&IDs will be provided which show expected tags to be
included in the 3D Model.
 All equipment shall be tagged appropriately in the “3D As-Built Model”.
 All primary instrumentation (subject to COMPANY approval) shall be tagged
appropriately in the “3D As-Built Model”.
 All Specialty Items shall be tagged appropriately in the “3D As-Built Model”.
 All Structural Steel members shall be tagged appropriately in the “3D As-Built
Model”.
 To validate the integrity of the created model by confirming that all isometrics
and all GA’s can be extracted without errors, a dump of the extracted
isometrics in native AutoCAD and PDF is expected to be delivered to CNL as
evidence of this validation process.

The 3D and 2D deliverables shall be per Chevron CES standards and MOE shall be
within industry standard.
If applicable, Contractor to extract 2D General Arrangement Drawings (GA’s) from
the As-Built 3D model, and merge the partial GA with the relevant CNL master GA’s
to be issued to the engineering contractor.

4 Continuous Improvement

This process shall be subject to continuous improvements utilizing the following

guides:

 Monitor the process for continued compliance in accordance with CNL

Information Management guidelines by conducting random audits of project
deliverables.

 Ensure Contractor performance enhancement by addressing gaps

identified in the work process.

 Regularly review and update the process and seek opportunities for
improving tools, process and / or communications.

 Review and solicit information on improvement opportunities from key

stakeholders including Project Managers, Lead Discipline Engineers and
Discipline Engineers.

5 General Instruction.

The following below should be considered among others:

 Number of Personnel and associated Man hours to carry out the scope of work.

 The Execution schedule shall be 14 days or less for the Laser Scanning activity and 30
days or less for development of the 3D As-built model.

 The logistics to and from the site shall be at contractor’s expense.

 Contractor shall provide office accommodation and working resources for four (4) Client’s
staff for supervision of the scope of work.
