Installing Veeam Backup & Replication 11: -

System Requirements: -
 CPU: x86-64 minimum 4 cores recommended
 Memory: 4GB RAM plus 500 MB RAM for each enabled job.
 Disk Space: 5 GB for product installation and 4.5 GB for .NET Framework. 10 GB per 100 VMs for guest file system
catalog folder.
 Network: 1Gbps or faster for onsite B&R.
 OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019 & 2022.
 Software:
- Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2
- Microsoft Windows Installer 4.5
- Microsoft PowerShell 5.1
- Microsoft SQL Server Management Objects
 SQL Database: Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017 & 2019.

Installation Steps: -

 Download VBR from below link.

 Load ISO file in local machine and run the setup.


 Click install Veeam Backup & Replication

 Install prerequisite if missing


 Accept license agreement

 Provide license file

 Follow below steps to get license file


- Browse the below URL and login to MyVeeam portal.
- Then login to VCSP Pulse portal and get license file.

 Download the license key on local machine and brose the location.
 Select the features and install them.

 Setup will run the pre-check and deploy the missing features.
 Now install VBR after all required features are installed.
Installing Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager: -

 Click install Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager.


 Accept license agreement and click next.

 Browse the license file and click next.


 Select required features and click next.

 Deploy missing features after pre-check and click next.


Using Veeam Backup & Replication 11: -
 Open VBR 11 on server
 Connect to VBR 11

 Select the server to update components.


 Add vCenter or individual hosts in VBR (adding individual host for good performance is recommended)
 Check the number of NICs attached to host in vCenter and add host with 40Gbps NIC.
 Adding Repository – Determine the NIC in NAS and connect to NIC with higher speed. We are using 10Gbe NIC to
access the NAS for higher throughput.
Attach network share with 10Gbps nic in QNAP for high speed.

 Crate different LUNs for different clients in QNAP.


 Create thin volume.
 Put volume name as per client and size, and finish.
 Create file shares in each volume.
 Go to File station and select the LUN created.
 Go to create folder and shared folder.
 Give folder name and click create.
 Now in Veeam add SMB share for reliability.
 Give name to Backup Repository.
 Add share using 10Gbps NIC and provide QNAP admin credentials.
 Apply the default settings and finish the wizard.
 Adding Backup Job
Default settings make sure full copy on Saturday. Change the settings if multiple backups are there, we can change days
and time of backup jobs to run. Full backup should always be scheduled for weekends.
Additional Notes: -
Naming structure for the servers should be as follows:

·  BKP-VB : Backup Server

·  BKP-VR : Replication and Snapshot server

·  BKP-SQL-01 - SQL Server for central database storage

·  BKP-VO : Veeam One Server

·  BKP-VSPC : Veeam SPC server

For networks, use VLAN7 for backups.
