Advanced Foundation Techniques

Foundation techniques transfer structural loads from a building to the ground. Shallow foundations are suitable when soil can support loads, while deep foundations like piles are needed with weak soils or high loads. Pile foundations include cast in situ piles constructed on site and precast piles inserted into dense soil layers. Mat foundations distribute loads over a large area using a thick concrete slab suitable for buildings on shallow foundations or with poor soil conditions.

foundation techniques

foundation is the element of a structure which connects it to the ground , transferring loads from
the structure to the ground foundations are generally considered either shallow or deep.
purpose
A foundation provides the structure"s stability from the ground.
to distribute the weight of the structure overa a large area in order to avoid overloading thr underlying
soil.to provide a levelled surface for construction.
to anchor the structure against natural forces including earthquakes, floods, droughts, tornadoes.
to prevent lateral movements of the supported structures.
