LEARNING ACTIVITY SHEET- (QUARTER 2-WEEK 6)

DISCIPLINE AND IDEAS IN APPLIED SOCIAL SCIENCES

I. Introductory Concept

This learning activity sheet is intended to assist learners in applying the


important concepts learned in the course based on their own understanding of the
applied social sciences in relation to social realities. The main focus of this learning
material is placed on the application of knowledge, skills, and values learned from
the course to specific careers and life conditions.

II. Learning Skills from the MELCs

At the end of the learning activities, you are expected to synthesize the
learning from the course and its application to you as would be professionals
(HUMSS_DIASS 12-IIj-46). Corollary to this, you are most likely to exhibit the
following skills:

1. Name specific degree programs in higher education relevant to the


knowledge, skills, and attitudes learned in the different socials sciences fields.
2. Identify specific work or careers and employment venues where knowledge,
skills and values learned from the social sciences fields could be of good use.
3. Analyze the differences of counseling, social work and communication in
terms of scope, target clientele, and services provided.
4. Express personal view on how counseling, social work and communication
could be of value to the self, family, and community during the COVID 19
pandemic.
5. Create a collage showing a definite career plan after the senior high school
education.

III. Activities

Activity No. 1: Name specific degree programs in higher education of the Philippine
educational system relevant to the knowledge, skills and values learned in the
different social sciences fields. Write your answer in the appropriate column provided
in the matrix.

Activity No. 2: Familiarize the scope of each social sciences field in Matrix A. After
which, identify specific work or career where knowledge and skills learned in each
field can be applied including the potential work areas or employment venues for the
identified work or career. Write your answers on the spaces and appropriate column
provided for each category in Matrix B.

7. Linguistics The study of language and its structure which include
morphology, syntax, phonetics, abd semantics.
8. Politics The study of the state and its government including all the
activities in relation to state affairs.
9. Psychology The study of mind and behavior which includes the study of
conscious and unconscious phenomena as well as feeling and
thought.
10. Sociology The study of the society and the dynamic relations between
individuals, groups and institutions that comprise it.

Activity No. 3: Based from what you have learned from the previous lessons, give
your analysis as to what makes each applied social sciences field distinct in terms of
the identified point of analysis. As a requirement, your analysis must be written in
English. However, you are also allowed to write it in any language you are
comfortable using, as long as the translation is provided. You can ask any learning
partner, including your teachers, for the translation of your response; just don’t forget
to acknowledge the name of your source after the translation. Enclose the name of
your source in a parenthesis.
