ASSIGNMENT 2 (INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT) ACOUSTICS & ARTIFICIAL LIGHTING STRATEGIES FOR FINAL DESIGN PROJECT
OBJECTIVES : To assess students’ level of understanding on Acoustical & Artificial
Lighting within the Built Environment through knowledge application. : To encourage critical thinking and problem solving skills among students. : To nurture independent learning among students. MARKS : 60% of overall marks. SUBMISSION : Wednesday, 13th July 2022 (50% of marks deduction for late submission).
TASK Each student has to:
Introduce your Final Design Project. Include Killer Perspective, Name, Typology, Size, Location, Concept, List of Spaces, etc. Conduct Acoustical & Lighting SWOC analyses of the site. Propose comprehensive Building Strategies in response to the existing Acoustical & Lighting condition of the site. This covers: a) General strategies (overall building location, orientation, layouts, materials, treatments, etc.) b) Specific rooms/spaces strategies (specific structural intervention, fittings, furnishing, etc.). Justify your proposal in Written texts & Illustrations - Info-graphics. Sketches, 2D & 3D Drawings, where necessary. Include Citations and the List of References at every information/picture taken from other resources (not yours). OUTPUT Digital Presentation Board • Board Size: A1 • File Format & Size: PDF Size is fexible as long as it can be directly viewed from Google Classroom. No download required. • Important Info: Student Name, ID, Photo & Project Title. EXPECTATION Each student has to portray: Impressive graphic communication skill. High ability to work in independently. High ability to propose and discuss Acoustic and Artificial Lighting Strategies for built environment. MARKS The mark weightage for this assignment is 60% of the overall marks. Each student will be marked based on the following criteria: Background Information of Individual Final Design Project (10%) Comprehensiveness of Study (40%): - Acoustics & Lighting SWOC Analyses of the site (10%) - Clear Proposal - Good response towards Acoustics & Lighting analyses (10%) - Accurate & Informative Calculations, Texts, Graphics & Drawings (10%) - Appropriate Justification - Supported with Citations & References (10%) Creativity & Workmanships (10%)
