Collaborative Seminar Presentation Guidelines
Collaborative Seminar Presentation Guidelines
You are now supposed to be planning your collaborative seminar presentations. The process that you
are required to engage in is not so very different from what you did for the documented essay. The
major difference is that you are expected to identify a theory/concept/principle in the discipline (Social
Sciences) or sub-discipline (Economics, Psychology, Sociology etc.) that is related to your chosen
topic/issue and use it to ground and guide your presentation. This theory/concept/principle should help
you to effectively develop your claims. Please note that you are expected to choose a topic/issue that is
related to the collaborative documented essay you submitted. For this pre-recorded presentation, using
your thesis statement, the claims should be developed using credible references/sources.
Feel free to exercise your creativity in the use of graphics, pictures etc. but remember that the
presentaion should effectively convey the intended content and meaning. All group members are to
participate in the preparation of the outline and the actual presentation and upload the completed
peer assessment sheet on page 2 of this document to the assignment portal at OurVLE; however, only
the group leader is to upload the presentation outline and the link to the presentation to Turnitin.com
and at OurVLE.
Analysis Has the information been used to establish an effective relationship between the
disciplinary concept/theory/principle and the issue/problem/situation being
examined?
Has the concept/theory/principle been effectively applied to the topic chosen in a
manner that demonstrates critical thinking/logical assessment?
Use of Did the presentation use a style and language variety appropriate for
Language the situational context?
PEER ASSESSMENT:
You are required to assess the contribution of each member of your group (including yourself) on a scale

research, outline and script preparation, sharing ideas, participation in discussions, willingness to
listen to the views/ideas of others, showing respect for other members and their ideas, willingness to
volunteer, and ability to work with others in a group. Your group members’ assessment of your
contribution will affect your presentation grade.
