Job Description

Designation : Senior Engineer/Assistant Manager – Engineering (Design and


Development)

JOB DESCRIPTION
Roles & Responsibilities
Understand and Analyze product design requirement of customer for Automotive Fastener (Metal and Plastics)
Create 3D CAD models in Catia V5, able to do assembly simulation and calculations as per the guidelines available.

Generating Concept Designs and evaluating the Robust Concept which adds Value to the product.
Preparing DFMEA, DVP and identifying actions to mitigate the failures.
Generating 2D drawings, 3D annotation as per ITW standards, applying GD&T and Calculating Tolerance stack up, etc.
Attend meeting with customers during design and product development phases for ongoing discussions.
Project management and follow steps involved in the design operations.
Involvement in test related activities to understand the issues and troubleshoot the problems.
Discuss with suppliers and CFT for support to get design related developments related activities done.
Maintain the Quality of data as per ITW standards.
Maintain the log of the Engineering changes and updates all the Bill of Materials for the product designs.
Gives inputs during product design and after product development phases in projects for betterment of the product
performance, Value engineering and Value creation.
Make internal design reviews and train/develop subordinates and trainees.
Participate in individual development plan for personal and professional growth.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

Speed of Product Design and Model Creation in 3D
Accuracy of the product design from manufacturing processes.
Compliance to Customer design quality requirements 100%
Maintaining all Designs, Drawings and documents in proper order.
Making 2D drawings as per ITW standards and Customer requirements.
Conceptualizing and making jigs and fixtures designs and drawings.
Improvising on previous designs as part of continuous improvement process.
Supports in Testing and Validation of Parts during development and Independent handling of customer queries and
meetings.
Competencies Required
Behavioral Functional
Leadership Knowledge of Design Software CATIA V5
Communication skills – English Knowledge of Injection molded parts, Sheet metal parts, Tool
(Read, write and Speak) Manufacturing and processes
Positive Attitude and Self Driven Knowledge of Automotive Parts
Approachable, Systematic and disciplined. Knowledge of product design documentation process and APQP
process.
Good Rapport with Customer. Resourcefulness

Educational Requirements -
BE/Diploma in Mechanical Engg. / Diploma in Tool & Die Making /Post Diploma in Tool Design/NTTF/GTTC/CIPET
Mandatory Requirements –
Hands on experience in Product Design using Catia V5 for 4 – 6 years.
Hands on experience in Tool manufacturing for 2-4yrs (added skill)
Should have handled customers independently.
Should be well versed with Design and development process, Plastic and sheet metal manufacturing process.
Should possess excellent analytical skills.
Should be able to travel at customer locations.
Must be from Automotive Components Manufacturing Industry (Preferably from critical components manufacturing
industries like electrical, fasteners, terminals, connectors, etc.)
