I. RATIONALE:

The Department of Education enjoined all public elementary and secondary

schools to implement the Gulayan sa Paaralan (GPP) through DepEd Memorandum No.

293, s.2007 to advocate the hunger mitigation and establish school gardens to make

the continuous supply of vegetables for the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP)

through DepEd Memorandum No. 95, s. 2018 “to address malnutrition and promote

vegetable production and consumption among school children” according to Education

Secretary Leonor M. Briones.

In response, to provide assistance to students amidst the pandemic, Bambad

National High School continue combating and fighting hunger and malnutrition

through the idea of feeding programs which is a vehicle to achieving both educational

and social objective among school children.

To sustain the feeding program in school, fresh and healthy sources of

vegetables as main ingredients in the arroz caldo were provided from the Gulayan sa

Paaralan projects of every classes. This project which was implemented last December

2021 was well- managed and maintained by the teachers and learners who were

exposed to garden works, enhanced their work ethics and made them realized the

importance of food production as well as eating vegetables to have healthy bodies.

GPP in senior high school is seen to be sustaining for five months now while teachers

and students have been enjoying and collaborating efforts to maintain the GPP as an

additional food basket for everyone.

With this, senior high school teachers will hold a two-day feeding activity for its

200 students who have been attending expanded face-to-face classes on April 20-21,

2022 in the school campus.

Indeed, these feeding programs are beneficial for the physical, mental, and

psychosocial development of the senior high school students. Providing food could

help supplement the problem for malnourished students through accessible healthy

vegetable meals; and better nutrition provides them better resistance to diseases

which would keep them in attending school and that may result to improved academic

performance.

II. OBJECTIVES

This feeding program aims to:

1. address hunger and encourage learners to be in school;
