Written Assignment Unit 1
Written Assignment Unit 1
Dieting
Introduction
It is well known that we all care about our health and well-being. Personally, when my
cholesterol and triglycerides rose, I went on a diet, but after a while, I started feeling sicker than I
already was. Ogden (2019) stated that "diet has a 35% probability of causing death due to
cancer" (p. 13), that is something serious and that is why it is important to know how to balance
Dieting
Since I was recently diagnosed with fatty liver, I will do this experiment based on a diet
for the disease. As I have my degree in gastronomy and have worked as a chef for 9 years, I can
think of several options, but I will focus on something simpler. The foods for my diet that I chose
- Lettuce salad
- Carrots
- Oatmeal
There is scientific evidence that the foods I choose are suitable for my diet. Chicken
breast is lean meat, so I won't be affected by the fat in my liver. It also contains proteins that help

my body maintain my cells, rebuild tissues and grow. Brown rice Contains fewer calories,
minerals and vitamins, a source of energy, helps reduce the risk of diseases, fiber, stable glucose
levels, and proteins (DKV Seguros, 2021). Lettuce is a very refreshing food thanks to its high
water content and it provides essential minerals and vitamins such as potassium, magnesium,
calcium, vitamin A.
Chaya contains large amounts of iron, helps with weight gain, and has a high anti-
inflammatory power that relieves and prevents various ailments (The Brands Group, 2021).
Carrots contain vitamin A that helps with eyesight, olive oil, and omega 3 raises HDL (good)
cholesterol levels and lowers LDL-c (bad) cholesterol. Finally, whole wheat bread and oats
contain large amounts of fiber, which will help me reduce the fat in my liver and my other lipids.
For this experiment, I am going to use my wife, my cousin, and myself. In order to design
my experiment, the first thing I am going to do is take the weight, height, and BMI of each one
of us.
1. Cousin:
- Weight: 98lbs
- Height: 5’, 1”
- BMI: 18.5
2. Wife:
- Weight: 130lbs
- Height: 5’, 3”
Written Assignment Unit 1 3
- BMI 22.1
3. Myself:
- Weight: 205lbs
- Height: 5 ’10"
- BMI 29.4
my cousin does not eat much, I am sure that she will continue to maintain her weight, she might
lose a few ounces, but it won’t exceed a pound. My wife might lose two or three pounds and
likewise, her BMI will drop from 22.1 to 18.5. I am sure that I will be able to lose many pounds,
maybe ten or fifteen if possible, and lower the fats in my liver, my lipids, my BMI, and above all,
Conclusion
have much time to confirm my hypothesis. I am sure that in a month I will be able to start seeing
results. I will follow this diet and try not to eat any junk food so it does not affect my results.
