Lesson Exemplar in Science 7 (Quarter 4)

This document outlines a 60-minute science lesson plan on solar and lunar eclipses for 7th grade students. The lesson uses hands-on modeling activities to help students understand how eclipses occur. Students are divided into 5 groups, each with a different task - such as creating eclipse models, listing eclipse superstitions, or acting out eclipses. Representatives from each group then explain their task to the class. Finally, students explain the occurrence of eclipses in writing. The goal is for students to be able to explain how solar and lunar eclipses occur using hands-on models and active learning techniques.

ANNOTATION:
The teacher prepared an activity per group to promote active learning, in which students
create models in this case model of solar and lunar eclipse, answer questions, formulate
questions of their own, discuss and explain within the group and afterwards they will present
it on the class. The teacher tried to be more creative in her discussion by promoting learner
centered approach.
