What is SAP?
• SAP is a software that manages efficiently the resources of most of the
main companies Finance, Logistics, HR, Controlling…
• Developed by the company SAP AG (Systems, Applications and Products). It
is the second biggest enterprise software supplier of the world, after
Microsoft.
• Headquarters are placed in Waldorf, Germany.

History of SAP
• Software founded in 1972 at Mannheim (Germany) by five employees from
IBM.
• SAP R/3 was successfully implemented in the 90’s having an exponential
growth in medium and big companies.
• Now it has around 110,000 employees and it has over 120 foreign
subsidiaries. It is the German company with the highest value in the stock-
market.
• Around 70-80% of the big companies use its products.
• The trend of the next years is to improve the connectivity with mobile
devices, having the information in cloud servers, and getting the data as
fast as possible with an user-friendly environment.

• Transacción: Mnemonic code that executes a program in SAP. For example FB01 post
financial document.
• SAP Fiori: Design system that enables you to create business apps with a consumer-
grade user experience, turning casual users into SAP experts with simple screens that
run on any device.
• BAPI (Business Application Programming Interface): Function that performs a specific
operation in SAP (post document, create purchase order...). It is used in custom
developed programs.
• Client: System with own master data and table content.
