Methodology Ranao-Agus River Basin (Rarb) Project: Solar Surveying Corporation

The document describes the methodology used for collecting and testing soil samples from the Ranao-Agus River Basin Project in the Philippines. Samples are collected through drilling operations on site, photographed, labeled, and transported by logistics teams to the Antipolo laboratory every 2 weeks. Transportation takes 2 days by land and sea. At the laboratory, samples are received and technicians conduct grading, liquid limit, and plastic limit tests, which involve drying, weighing, sieving, and other procedures. Results are reported.

METHODOLOGY
RANAO-AGUS RIVER BASIN (RARB) PROJECT

The following procedures describe how the samples collected from Drilling
Operation to Laboratory Testing. The mode of transportation has explained as well
from the drilling site in Ranao-Agus River Basin to Antipolo laboratory.

Drilling Operation
1. Gather all equipment;
2. Check all equipment if all functions properly then report back to field head
and inventory head;
3. Receive the order to proceed to the site from field head with location and
orders and instructions from field head and project manager;
4. Travel to site location with help of logistics team;
5. Contact field head and project head to ask for permission to proceed with the
location for their approval;
6. Unload the rig from transportation vehicle and move all required
equipment and accessories on to the targeted site;
7. Set up the tripod and the machine while installing side pump and flexible hose
for the water supply;
8. Report to field head that set up is complete and ready to proceed with the drilling;
9. Check in with project engineer and update a status on the on-going drilling operation;
10. Extract samples and immediately report to project engineer for the progress;
11. Take a picture of samples while in a core box;
12. Pack the samples in a proper container and label them accordingly with
location and borehole number and store them in a secure and safe location;
13. Take a picture in the rig with a clear and clean photo;
14. Record the progress in a log book of date and time of start to finish;
15. Have the logistics team pick up the samples and sign over the necessary
documents to turn over the samples; and
16. Logistic team delivers the samples and turn over the samples to the laboratory
head and sign documents for the turn over the samples.

Transportation of Borehole Samples

The samples from Lanao will be delivered to Antipolo laboratory every 2 weeks
interval. They are sealed with a meter of stretch wrap and placed on a corebox. When the
settings are done, the samples will be carried by a Hino Truck.
The mode of transportations by land and sea will take 2 days before the samples
will arrive to the laboratory. More or less 40 borehole samples can be distributed in a
single trip.

Laboratory Testing
1. Receive samples from logistics team and have them signed for record book;
2. Laboratory technicians will prepare for grading and liquid limit;
3. Grading:
 Weigh the sample
 Put it in the oven and dry sample. 115 deg Celsius minimum of 4 hours
 Weigh again and dry the sample
 Wet wash the sample
 Put it in the oven again
 Weigh the sample
 Proceed to sieving
4. Conducting testing of grading liquid limit; and Plastic Limit
5. Reporting
