Course Description:
As more and more businesses around the world adopt enterprise systems, it becomes increasingly
important for students to develop a more process-centric perspective that reflects the realities of
modern business environment in which they will work. Since business operations and enterprise
systems are tightly integrated in the modern business environment, it becomes necessary for students
to understand the ways in which real-world business processes are managed and executed in an
enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
Business process integration, this course, covers the key processes supported by the world’s
leading enterprise resource planning system, SAP ERP. The key integrated business processes
include sales and distribution processes, materials management process, production planning and
execution processes, financial and managerial accounting processes, and warehouse management
process. Each process will be discussed within the context of its execution across functional areas in
a company, Global Bike Incorporation (GBI), with special emphasis on the role of data in managing
the coordination between activities and groups that helps students gain a deep appreciation for the
role of enterprise systems in effectively managing processes from multiple functional perspectives.

Course Objectives:
The objectives of the course are to:
● Explain the basic structure, processes, and concepts related to the ERP system,
● Infer the various steps involved in managing and executing the key integrated business
processes in the ERP environment, and
● Illustrate working skills to the students in the ERP environment through a case study method
and lab exercises.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
 Demonstrate the steps involved in managing and executing the key integrated business
processes in the ERP environment,
 Plan integration among sales and distribution processes, materials management process,
production planning and execution processes, financial and controlling processes, and
warehouse management process of a business enterprise, and also
 Demonstrate the steps involved in data entries of an SAP-ERP environment.

Expectations from Students:


 Students must report to the respective sessions well before the announced time. Latecomers
will not be permitted to join the class after the scheduled time. If late, the attendance for that
session will be marked as absent.
 Read the case study/material well prior to the class discussion. He/she is also expected to read
the chapter indicated in the course plan as the faculty directs.
 In the class discussion student is expected to participate actively and contribute to individual
and group learning. Evaluation is based on active participation.
 Evaluation is a continuous process at IBS. Every student needs to be aware of the timelines
given in the section below. Absence from these evaluations will mean non awarding of marks
in that particular component
 Wherever applicable, group assignments require each student to contribute to the group
effort. This enhances group effectiveness and leads to greater appreciation of working in
groups.
 Formal dressing is suggested for all students. Do not roam in the academic area and attend
classes in chappals/shorts/informal t-shirts
 Students are expected to show high regard and appreciation for in class discipline and desist
from using mobile phones. This disturbs the class ambience and unnecessarily diverts
attention of other students as well as the faculty member.
 Each faculty has been given a scheduled consultation hour. Utilize this time to meet the
faculty and clarify doubts if any, seek explanations and get mentored if needed.
 Attendance is compulsory in all sessions. However, refer to guidelines in your academic
handbook for exceptions.
