CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Due to this pandemic surge, most Filipinos spent their time in their homes. That's why many
Filipinos recreate and re-invent many things, such as selling their pre-loved clothes. They also
learned how to bake some goods. Some engaged themselves in planting and in live selling of
different products. Some individuals learned to sew their own bags, shirts from their old clothes, or
what they call "thrifting" of clothes from old into new. These kinds of activities help us lessen our
boredom during this pandemic season since we don’t have any idea when it will be over. Most of
the activities listed above can also be a source of income for those individuals who want to stay at
home while still earning some extra income as well.
The product that we were focusing on marketing was the transformation of old jumper jeans into
fashionable eco bags. It can be worn as well whenever you want it, and you can still turn it into a bag
in just a minute. This new innovative idea for thrifting your jumper into a bag can be your source of
income and can also be a fun activity to be done at home using some basic sewing supplies such as
buttons, zippers, jumper jeans, thread, and needle, and, of course, your creativity as well. It also saves
money, especially during this time, because you can learn to thrift your own jumper into your own
unique designed bag. This product research that was done can be useful to those who want to engage
themselves in thrifting clothes. It can also be a source of a livelihood program since it is very easy and
simple to learn and fun to do. This led us to innovate and turn the jumper jeans into an Eco Bag.

Objectives
General Objectives:
•
In order for us to develop the product, we plan to make an eco-bag of jeans that can be used
as a bag of jeans that those who want to buy can be placed in an eco-bag. And jeans can be
worn for a walk or at home and can also be a bag that can be folded to make it a Bag. So as
not to use plastic or anything else that is harmful to our environment such as floods, the
amount of waste plastics used in the market and also to avoid the cost of buying plastics that
will be used.
Specific Objectives:
➢ So that we can design Jeans that can be a bag, so that wherever you go you can carry a
bag that even if you are wearing it, it can be a bag, like in marketing so that you don't
buy plastics and throw them somewhere after use. .
➢ For us to develop our own product and for us to prevent the spread of plastics
around, roads and flooding once we have developed the product.
➢ So that we can make a bag that can be filled with whatever things we want to put and also
so that it is not difficult to carry things, and buy more everywhere so that there is more to
use as a container for groceries
➢ To prevent the spread of plastics around, flooding and also to make it less difficult to carry
one by one on the goods
1. Our product called jumper to bag is the best from other hand bags or echo bags.
These products will not only be worn, but they will help us use them in a market,
which is the bag in the jumper jeans. We all know that we should avoid using plastic
because it is harmful to our environment. Plastic causes flooding and blockage in the canal.
A jumper jeans bag helps all people to use it. Wearing jeans and using the bag in a market or
in a mall, we can also use it at the same time. It helps to avoid using plastic because we can
use jumper jeans bags for our safety and for our environment.
This study focuses on the safety of people, because you don't have to buy plastic because you
have a jumper jeans bag. This is useful because it helps our community, the environment, and our
eco-friendly. The jumper jeans bag was used for equipment or groceries in a market or in a mall.
The coverage of the study limits is the quality of jumper jeans bag based on look
and application and the usefulness of the jumper jeans bag in our environment
Definition of terms
The following terms were defined operationally for better understanding of the study:
Eco Bag - It is type of bags that are stronger and more durable that conventional plastic bags.
Eco bags are recyclable, reusable, and bio degradable.
Durability or Durable - It means long - lasting and able to withstand wear and tear .Also by
its capacity to not be altered from its original form in a long period of time.
Jeans - It is hard wearing trousers made of denim or other cotton fabric for informal wear.
Portable - It is able to be easily carried or moved, especially being of a lighter and smaller
version than usual.
Researchers were using similarities and studies to gather data on the use of jumper jeans
bags in local and foreign countries. Its use is similar to that present in other countries and
supports the development of methods, which were gathered from articles, studies, and internet
sources.
According to CBD, they say using an eco-bag or jumper jeans bag can:
• 3 in 1 purpose
During my time in using an eco-bag, I learned that using eco bags at market was the best and
conserving plastic bags. The pollution shows the value of eco bags in preventing bacteria and
improving the environment. This portable jumper jeans bag is useful in this time of pandemic
because it helps us to protect our environment from pollution, and also conserve plastics. One of
the most important steps in preventing the pollution and bacteria is to avoid using plastic bags.
Many fish in oceans and animals are dead because they eat the plastics that people throw in
oceans. Based on statistics 65% of the Philippines are polluted as 2021. The proposed solution
is to include a suitable product in the form of a jumper jeans bag with a 3 in 1 way of use to
combine a jumper jeans bag.
According to the Article "Avoid using plastic" MANY places in the country have
implemented a ban on the use of plastic. I think local government units (LGUs) and barangays
should take
seriously the arrest of anyone who uses plastic bags and styro products. If possible, use hand
iron, especially here in Metro Manila. The word "forbidden" is lacking in our countrymen, even
though they have been experiencing floods for more than a year, they are still going to throw
plastics everywhere. .Plastic would be good because it can be used a lot so we just lack the
discipline of proper cork. If you remember, this past month we passed by the southwest. We
experienced severe flooding because rainwater did not flow properly because garbage clogged
the canals. Mountainous garbage was picked up after the flood and it was mostly plastic.
Hopefully, the mayors and barangay captains will not worry about the garbage problem. Increase
the crackdown on plastic bag sellers in your area. Try to enter their warehouses with lots of
plastic bags and Styrofoam products. The plastic waste has finally reached the sea. In fact, there
have been reports of endangered fish dying because they ate plastics. If we, the people, cannot
stop the makers of plastics and Styrofoam products, they should avoid using them. We know that
plastic has value just like in soft drinks and mineral water. But on the one hand, it has a bad
effect on our environment if we throw away the drink everywhere.
2. Bad for human and animal health - Plastic bags pose a risk to our health. Since most
of the plastic that goes into the sea is eaten by fish, when we eat fish it is possible to
cause cancer and other serious diseases in us.
3. Expensive to you - Plastic bags are not free. The price of the plastic bag is added to
the price of the commodity.
4. Plastic bags are not easy to recycle - 1 trillion plastic bags are used annually and about
8 million metric tons of plastic waste goes into the ocean each year.
Solution
1. Use a cloth bag. Bury it when going to the supermarket and market. You can save
even more.
2. Choose and use a paper bag rather than a plastic bag.
3. Be responsible for our environment and health. Avoid using plastic bags so we can all
live long.
Denim
Denim is a strong and long-lasting 100% cotton fabric woven in twill weave. The word
“denim” derives from the French fabric "serge de Nimes," which was originated in Nimes,
France. (Hawthorn, n.d.) Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss invented it in 1873. A good pair of jeans
will last for long time. Denim has always been used for tough and long-lasting outdoor work
wear. Casual jackets, sweaters, and jeans are becoming more popular. Denim's popularity has
spread to a wide range of lifestyles. According to the History of Jeans, denim was first used for
work clothes due to its durability. Then, in the 1930s, when Hollywood began making cowboy
movies with actors dressed in jeans, it exploded in popularity. With the outbreak of World War
II, denim production decreased, but the world was introduced to denim when American soldiers
began wearing them while on leave. Just after the end of the war, other denim companies, such
as Wrangler and Lee, began to emerge.
Denim Recycling
Denim jeans have dominated the global market from the day it was invented. History has
witnessed its development through many decades. Today, sustainability and recycling are
popular, and all stakeholders in the apparel supply chain, from manufacturers to consumers, are
working
toward this cause. Denim has also a significant environmental impact because the dyes used in
its manufacture, pollute local waterways. In addition, the cotton crop used to make the fabric
necessitates the use of numerous chemical pesticides. A pair of jeans is estimated to consume
around 2900 liters of water, as well as large amounts of chemicals and energy. When multiplied
by the number of jeans produced globally, one can get an idea of the enormous contribution of
wastewater and harmful gases to the environment made by the denim industry. (Sedef
Uncu Akı, 2020) Denim jeans are typically made of cotton, which leads us to the assumption
that they will deteriorate in the environment. According to estimates, 450 million pairs of jeans
are sold in the United States each year; a pair of jeans requires 150 pounds of cotton and 1500
gallons of water (Gordon and Hsieh 2007). Recycling techniques have the ability to reform
product development. College
The Synthesis of Review Related Literature and Studies combines ideas and sources to make
the overall point of research. Focusing on the similarities and differences between our resources
According to 1 Bag at a Time, the most environmentally friendly bags are reusable bags. And
every study finds NWPP bags to be the number one recommended bag. They presented in the
article the three key advantages for reducing bag impacts on the environment. These are: very
low resource use, very low cost and very high reuse rates. The scientists and government
measured bag impacts. They included energy for processing bags and raw materials to make
them. Including petroleum jelly for plastic bags being echo-friendly can save the world and
reduce the impact of plastics simply by reusing them. And it can prevent global warming by
protecting our nature. Compared to the other plastic that we can see on the market, there are so
many reusable bags that we can choose from. It can be echoed or plastic. Additionally, according
to the International Fabric Institute's Fair Claims Guide, Jeans can last for 2-3 years or more, and
it depends on the quality. Jeans are made of denim. It can possibly save the planet from global
warming.
Gaps Bridged by the Present Study
As we go further into this product study, we found out that this is not new anymore to the
market since thrifthing has also been introduced to the market. Why do we still propose this
product during this time? It is simply because this kind of product can impose re-using of
certain things into new ones. This will also contribute to someone as a source of their fun
activity, most especially during this time when we don't have any idea when this pandemic will
end. It also creates a livelihood program once it captures the market by patronizing this product.
This product may not be in line during this pandemic surge, but it will still be more beneficial
as a source of income and a fun activity for those who are at home since it is very easy to do.
CHAPTER 3
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This chapter discussed the research methodologies that the researcher will use to conduct
the study, including the research design, study population, and data collection procedures. The
development of a research method, as well as its validity and reliability, data collection
processes, and data statistical treatment
Research Design
In this research, the researchers use descriptive developmental study in which it is a type of
social science research is a type of study that uses words to describe a population, situation, or
phenomenon. According to Williams (2007) descriptive research is a research method that can
determine the situation in current phenomenon. The researcher will make use of a prototype
model as the study's system development model.
PROTOTYPE
Figure 3. Prototype
The color dark blue represents as the waist opening of the jumper jeans eco bag with sewn
buttonholes. The color light blue is the denim or the fabric. The color yellow is zipper to bind
edges for the opening of the bag. The color green is the denim strap in which it is adjustable.
The color gray is the button to secure the bottom part of the bag. The color orange is the
pocket.
Sources of Data
The primary sources of data for jeans pans for this study will come from the conducted tests of
the system, interview forms, and closed-ended questionnaires that will also be given to the
respondents. Articles from the internet and library books, thesis, journals, tutorials, and other
topics and studies related to the system, such as Jeans are pants made from denim or dungaree
cloth. They were invented by Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss in 1873 and are worn still, but in a
different context. Jeans are named after the Italian city of Genoa, where cotton corduroy, called
either "jean" or "jeans" was manufactured.
This model was used as a way of measuring the level of acceptance of the developed
system among sastre and professionals who will serve as the system's evaluators.
The interview form, open-ended questionnaires using the questions and evaluations of the
proposed system will serve as the instrument to congregate needed information for a greater
understanding of this study. The researchers will be conducted an initial interview with the
selected respondents to gather primary information to deal with the main problem of this study
Testing
The Jumper Jean’s Bag is easy and nice to use. Jumper Jeans can be used as jeans and they can
be turned into bags that can be used in the market. Jumper Jean's Bag at market is reusable and
portable while buying goods and can store clothes. Jumper Jean's Bag is a great option for
people who always use plastic bags in markets and other outdoor places. Using the jumper jeans
bag is well worth it, you can put a lot in it.
Survey Questionnaire
A questionnaire survey was conducted on 100 consumer respondents from the Barangay
Balingasa. Results indicate that durability is a prime consideration on usage. The level of
awareness did not vary by demographic characteristics like age, income or occupation,
suggesting that this is a common phenomenon across different segments of the society. A
correlation was found between an awareness of the issues and the willingness to bring about
behavioral changes. The research is significant and relevant to the context of sustainability. The
research findings are significant for the marketers and policy makers especially in the context of
promotion and adoption of sustainable practices.
Interview
1. How could this product be more relevant or easy to introduce to market during this time.
5. How can you testify that it will be patronize in the market was it was about to introduce.
Consultation
I tried to consult some seamstresses and tailors regarding how to make it as possible,
especially with the materials needed. How can we be able to teach those who want to make it at
home? Could it be possible to sew it by hand, especially for the quality of the product we are
going to make as well as the design of every bag? We also consult some sellers who are in the
industry of selling pre-loved and thrifted clothes to see if this product could be much more
easily purchased or sold so that we can be able to know the price we will mark it up. We also
consulted those possible people that we will be training to make this product at home, such as
mothers who want to make an extra income if they could make it at home using only hand saws.
Could they provide the same quality as just sewing it on a machine?
