1- An organization is assigned the block 30FD:1110:1287/48. What is the IPv6 address of


an interface in the ninth and tenth subnets if the IEEE physical address of the computers
are (F5-A9-23-14-7A-D2)16 and (F7-BE-F1-EA-FC-30-65-1A) 16.

2- How long does it take to send a file of 640,000 bits from host A to host B over a circuit-
switched network if all links between A and B are 1.536Mbps ,each link use TDM with
24 slots/sec and 500msec to establish end-to-end circuit?

3- In the figure below find the least cost tree for each node and forwarding table, what is
the best path for routing packets from A to D
4- A path in a digital circuit-switched network has a data rate of 1 Mbps. The exchange of
1000 bits is required for the setup and teardown phases. The distance between two
parties is 5000 km, what is the total delay if 1000 bits of data are exchanged during the
data transfer phase?

5- What is the total delay (latency) for a frame of size 5 million bits that is being sent on a
link with 10 routers each having a queuing time of 2 μs and a processing time of 1 μs?
The length of the link is 2000 Km. the speed of light inside the link is 2 × 108 m/s. The
link has a bandwidth of 5 Mbps. Which component of the total delay is dominant?

We assume that the delay for each switch (including waiting and processing) is 3, 10,
20, 7, and 20 ms respectively. Assuming that the propagation speed is 2 × 108 m, find the
order the datagrams arrive at the destination and the delay for each. Ignore any other
delays in transmission.

8- Figure below shows a router using priority queuing at the input port, the arrival and
required service times (transmission time is negligible) for 10 packets. The packets with
higher priorities are 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, and 9 the other packets are packets with lower
priorities.

i- Using time lines, show the arrival time, the processing duration, and the departure time for
each packet. Also show the contents of the high-priority queue (Q1) and the low-priority
queue (Q2) at each millisecond.
ii- For each packet belonging to the high-priority class, find the time spent in the router and
the departure delay with respect to the previously departed packet. Find if the router creates
jitter for this class.

iii- For each packet belonging to the low-priority class, find the time spent in the router and
the departure delay with respect to the previously departed packet. Determine whether the
router creates jitter for this class.
9- A path in a digital circuit-switched network has a data rate of 1 Mbps. The exchange of

the sender and receiver is 10,000 km. Assume the average packet size is 100,000
bits and the propagation speed in the media is 2 × 108 m/s. Find the maximum
size of the send and receive windows, the number of bits in the sequence number
field (m), and an appropriate time-out value for the timer
