DIFFUN, QUIRINO

The movie tells the life story of Dr. Jose Rizal did you know that Rizal is a
unique example of a many splendored genius who became the greatest hero in
our nation that’s why Rizal is towering figure in the Philippines because of his
many achievements in life. He endowed by God with versatile gifts that he
ranked as the world geniuses. He was a physician, (ophthalmic surgeon ) poet,
dramatist, essayist , novelist, historian, architect, painter, sculptor, educator,
linguist , grammarian, naturalist, traveler and a prophet. Above and beyond all
these he was a hero and a political martyr who consecrated his life for the
redemption of his oppressed people. Rizal also become a towering figure in the
Philippines because of his religious aspects. He is scion of catholic clan, born
and brod in wholesome atmosphere of Catholicism and possessed of an inborn
prius spirit. He grew up good catholic and the very evidence of this Rizal at the
age of three has begun to take part in the family prayers. Rizal took a big part
in the lives of many Filipino people whom until now we being enjoy the freedom
against the Spanish tyranny and is said that no valor or enterprise in danger of
fortitude in suffering. The movie introduces us the life of subjugation of the
Filipino people under the rule of the Spanish friars. The film also trough a
series flashback showing Rizal as a genius . I was amazed in the episode that
rizalspoke his last words which is ‘consummatum est’ which means ‘it is
finished’ because it is a little similar to the death of Jesus Chirst which touch
me. Just like Jesus Chirst who sacrifices his own life for our sin and Rizal too
sacrifice his own life for us to have a freedom, I particularly love the last scene
of the film when rizal fell in the ground facing the sky, having his last breath
looking at a beautiful sunrise a methaphor depicing that rizal did not die in
vain. He did not die for nothing he did not defeated. Rather he died victorious
because his death is the torch that Philippines independence, that ignites
Philippine revolution. as a student Rizal is a big influencer to every Filipino. In
our life as students we should not let other people underestimate us there was
no freedom of the press of speech. Most Filipinos lacked privilege of education
and its resultant benefits. For Rizal, this was the root of the absence of justice
in country or of their being deprived of basic right. Without Rizal we will not
have Bonifacio, Jacinto, Mabini, and Antonio Luna raising arms against
Spanish and later on the united states for the independence of the Philippines.
Rizal finally realized that the Philippines had not been consistently represented
in the Spanish parliament. For Rizal this was the root of the absence of justice
in country, or of their being deprived of basic rights. His essay ‘ love of country’
which he wrote in June 1882. Which is never effaced once it has penetrated the
heart and so rizal became a crusader for his country’s freedom. He decided that
love of country should supplant all other considerations and as a student if
you talk about freedom it is quite an abstract thing which is different for each
individual. I agree with Rizal we have to be free to speak what is right and do
everything you want but only when doesn’t limit others rights and freedom.
Rizal chose to figth for his country through knowledge and the power of letters.
He noticed the continued suffering of his countrymen at the hands of te
Spaniards and sought to put an end to this situation he decided to improve on
his personal studies to acquire knowledge that he would later on pass to his
people trough novels and poems. His famous novels the ‘noli me tangere’ and el
filibusterismo’ pointed out the issues that the true citizens of Philippines faced
under Spanish rule and the need to take decisive action to liberate themselves
from oppressin. His action resonated well with that of his countrymen and
eventually the people decided to rise up and defend their rights and freedom.
By studying the lives of heroes such as Rizal, we are supposed to become more
aware of the ideals that our country is founded upon. We are supposed to
become more aware of the sacrifices such as Rizal sacrifice his life that our
forefathers made in order that we could have an independent country. In other
words, the study of such heroes is supposed to make us more patriotic and
more appreciative of what we have today. Rizal was a serious seeker of truth for
truth’s sake and this marked him as a historian.it is known how intently he
sougth the truth. Rizal was a keen observer of people and place he spent his
leisure moments touring the countryside observing everything. He made
sketches of the thing he saw. Rizal is also friendly he made many friends
everytime he travels and wherever he goes. Rizal always practiced self-
discipline.when he was in binan, waking up at 4 o’clockto hear a mass if
therewas any is a part of his daily life, otherwise he study his lessons at that
our and went mass afterwards. Rizal is a also brave by risking his life to save
our country is always a brave thing to do. Dr. Jose Rizal always thougth of his
native land, worked for it, cared for it, always returned for it and even die for it.
Rizal’s love for our country meant knowing and cherishing who he was, where
he came from and what he could offer to our land. He performed them all with
his, mind heart and spirit. That Dr. Rizal well deserve the honor is evident his
scholarly troughness and his monumental literary and historical works.
