II. RATIONALE

COVID-19 pandemic has brought a remarkable change in our country. It


has exacerbated poverty, discrimination, and inequalities not only through how
COVID-19 appears to be affecting poorer communities more than the rich, but
also because of the measures taken by our country to control the spread of the
virus, primarily by curtailing freedom of movement through the imposition of
community quarantine, lockdowns, and curfews. Because of these protocols
and the danger brought about by COVID-19 disease, educational sectors have
almost been paralyzed. Schools and universities in our country have almost
been shut down.

As the effect of COVID- 19 pandemic continue to escalate, the department


of education has been confronted with different issues and concerns. One of
these is on the mode of delivery of instructions since face-to face interaction with
the learners is strictly restricted. Hence, as a response, the Department of
Education (DepEd) has enabled itself to craft and implement differentiated
instructions as solution in embracing the New Normal way teaching and
learning. To cite an enactment of Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-
LCP) under DepEd Order No. 012, s. 2020 for School Year 2020-2021. The BE-
LCP is consistent with the mandate of Section 1, Article XIV of the 1987
Constitution aims to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the learners,
teachers, and personnel in the time of COVID-19 while finding ways for
education to continue amidst the crisis. In particular, the BE-LCP has been
designed with a legal framework responsive to the “new normal,” keeping in
mind the constitutional mandate to always uphold the right of all citizens to
quality education.

In line with this, schools can adopt one or a combination of learning


modalities suited for distance learning depending on the local health conditions,
the availability of resources, and the context of the learners in the school or locality.
Thus, following the protocol, Pacac Grande National High School adapted both
Modular and Online distance learning (synchronous and asynchronous) to continue
catering the needs of its learners. The online learning modalities have solved the
problem posted by modular distance learning since it allows learners to actively

participate using various technologies accessed through internet and to attend
virtual classes using google classroom as the primary LMS. It also allows teachers
to be provide real-time feedback to learners.
However, though online learning provides a lot of benefits for both teachers
and learners, it requires them to have a good and stable connection. Furthermore,
accessing the LMS requires high internet data bandwidth thus students are required
to subscribe or to register mobile internet promos that offer higher data bandwidth
which made them spend more. These problems were also raised by students during
online classes and parents during the weekly distributions of modules and the
conduct of “Project Kumustahan” last February 2021”. Parents at Barangay Tana
commented that Online classes greatly aid their children in understanding lessons in
their modules most especially they themselves have difficulty in assisting their kids.
However, though online classes are of great help, still slow internet connections
remain a pain on the part of their child.

This paves way for the crafting of Project ESCAPADES as an alternative,


cost- effective and user-friendly platform that requires low bandwidth
consumption and serves not only as a repository of all learning materials of their
respective subjects. More so, this project aims to aggrandize the common usage
of Facebook by incorporating it into the teaching and learning process to
maximize collaboration among learners and teachers and aids teachers for fast
and easy feedbacking.

A. Objectives of the Project
The goal of this workplan is to provide an alternative, cost- effective
and user-friendly platform that requires low bandwidth consumption as a
response to students’ problem in accessing the Learning Management
System.
In this project, Facebook Group will be utilized to serve as an alternative
delivery platform for teaching and learning aside from google classroom.

Thus, this workplan aims to:

1. alleviate students stress in accessing learning materials in the LMS due


to slow internet connection and higher bandwidth consumption;
2. assist and provide learners with speedy feedbacks and new updates;
3. deliver students unlimited review of instructional videos and materials;
and,
4. promote collaboration among teachers and students.

B. Time Frame

This workplan will be done starting March 9, 2021, until the end of the

2nd semester, School Year 2020-2021. Planning will be done on March 09-12,

2021 for the planning and creation of Facebook group and data management.

On March 15-19, 2021, learners will be added on Facebook group

through notification or by adding students manually. The group will be utilized

from March 22, 2021 until the end of the second semester, June 2021.

Target Clientele and Coverage

The workplan will cater the 107 Grade 11 Senior High School students and
102 Grade 12 with a total of 209 Senior High School students. The workplan will
cover second semester of school year 2020-2021, from March 22, 2021 to June
2021.

C. Source of Funds/Budgetary Requirements

It will be explained to the school heads/stakeholders the importance of this


workplan; thus, the assurance of financial matters will not be a burden because there
will be no incurred expenses due to the availability of school internet connection. In
case of accidental expenditure, the amount will come from teachers’ personal
pocket.

IV. IMPACT OF THE WORK PLAN

During this time of pandemic where communication and interaction


mostly take place over the internet, the use of different online platforms in
the teaching and learning process have become a need for both teachers
and learners. However, the struggle to access leaning arises when
everybody has familiarity problem on the usage and how’s of the different
platforms. Thus, considering Facebook App as everyone’s well-verse of,
convenience and flexibility of learning will be notable in the comfort of his/
her home.
Along the aforementioned, this workplan will be significant to the
following:

Students – This workplan is significant to the students because it provides


an avenue for shy students to learn, to share their knowledge and to
collaborate with their peers. Also, it allows students to learn and work at
their own pace in the comfort of their own home. More so, “Project
ESCAPADES “which uses FACEBOOK Group provides confidence to
students since they are already well-aware of the whereabouts of this
application as a platform for online learning. More so, Facebook can run
even with free data, thus students’ burden on costly load expenses will be
lessen.

Teachers – this workplan is beneficial to teachers such that the set up


makes it easy for a variety of tutors and experts to come together to share

their knowledge, and this can be done regardless of where those experts
are based geographically.

Administrators – This will be useful for the school administrator to monitor


and to track the academic performance of the pupils and teachers. From
this, the school head is gauged on what intervention should be created to
address bottlenecks in improving performance during the time of pandemic.

Parents – Parent’s trouble in terms of their child load allowance will be


lessened. Also, this can be used as a platform for parents to reach out their
child’s teachers for feedbacking and vice versa and how to appropriately
assist and guide their children. For better learning.

SDO personnel (SGOD and CID) – to give a picture of what is happening in


the school as basis in giving technical assistance.
