Brigada Pagbasa Activity Design
RATIONALE:
Brigada Pagbasa is a nationwide reading movement that seeks to enhance the skills of
every Filipino learner who can read and improve their comprehension. This is in response to the
Hamon: Bawat Bata Bumabasa (3Bs Initiatives) issued through Deped Memorandum No.
173, s. 2019, the External Partnerships Service has committed to make every child a reader by
engaging partners and stakeholders to promote the culture of reading.
Cabunao Elementary School in its proper implementation of the Brigada Pagbasa will
launch an information and advocacy campaign in the Barangay Health Center which is near to
the school to reach out pupils in the community to participate and engage them in a reading
session to be conducted by the teachers. The school choose the said area, as a visible learning
space for passers-by to invite them for a quite time to spend for reading. Furthermore, the
teachers will use their Home Visitation schedule to monitor the implementation of the activity in
the households of their learners and give them interventions in reading, as needed.
OBJECTIVE:
1. To launch Brigada Pagbasa in an area in the locality
(Barangay Health Center)
2. To engage learners in reading sessions conducted by
teachers
METHODOLOGY
The launching of the Brigada Pagbasa in the Barangay Health Center will be on
August 24, 2021 at 9:00 o’clock in the morning. This is a half-
day event to be participated by the teachers, selected pupils and parents, midwife, barangay
health workers and parents following the health and safety protocols. The event will make use of
MEANS-donated reading books and other reading materials.
