Narrative text is a non-fiction story that can be in the form of fairy tales, myths, folk

tales, animal stories, and so on. If narrative text is a fairy tale, legend, folklore. While
recount text is usually in the form of a biography, or to tell a personal experience.
The purpose of narrative text is to entertain the reader with a story that is made in
such a way that it is interesting.
Narrative text has three elements that must be present in a story or writing, as follows:
Orientation
Orientation is the initial paragraph that contains the introduction of the characters involved
in the incident. It also contains the place and time of the incident.
Siapa tokohnya (who) Waktu (when) Tempat (when)

Complication
Complications consist of paragraphs that explain the beginning of the event or occurrence.
The beginning of this event became a series of storylines that continued to conflict, climax,
and anti-climax. Complication usually contains the interaction of actors or characters in the
story. Interactions that then lead to conflict.
Natural conflict, konflik antar semesta atau alam. Social conflict, konflik antar pelaku
atau tokoh. Psychological conflict, konflik yang terjadi pada batin atau diri sendiri.

Resolution
The final part of the story is called resolution. In this section there is a settlement that
makes the storyline end. Every problem that arises must have a solution, it can end happily
or sadly. In addition to the three general structures, sometimes narrative text can be added
with evaluation and reorientation. Where evaluation is an evaluation of the course of the
story and reorientation is the final conclusion of the story. However, the existence of the
last two elements is optional, may or may not be included.

Characteristics of narrative text Narrative text has the following language


characteristics or features: Using past tense (except for conversation) Adverb
of time (one day, once, a long time ago, etc.) Conjunction of time (when, then,
suddenly) Specific characteristics Action verbs Direct sentences

Language Characteristics of Narrative Text

There are several characteristics used in composing language in a narrative


text story, these linguistic characteristics include:

• Using Nouns:
This noun is generally used as a pronoun for a person, animal or thing in a
story, for example: stepmother, the dwarfs, carriage, malin kundang and
others.

• Using Past tense:

Past tense verbs (narrative text) verb 2, for example: went, ate, met, and
others.

• Using Time Connective:

Time connective is a conjunction of time to sort an event, for example: after,


before, after that, and so on.

• Using Action Verbs:

That is a verb that shows an event or activity, such as: stayed, climbed, wrote,
and others.

• Using Saying and Thinking Verbs:


That is a verb that shows reporting or speech, for example: said, told, thought,
and so on.
