1 .Attempt FIVE questions in all.
2. Question No. 1 is compulsory.
3. Attempt TWO questions from Part-I and ONE question each from Parts II & III.
4. Figures to the right, in brackets, indicate marks.
5. Assume suitable data wherever required.
6. Draw neat and relevant sketches in support of your answer.
7. All answers must be written in English language only.
8. This paper contains 2 pages and 8 questions.

COMPULSORY QUESTION (To be attempted on a drawing sheet) (40)

Q.1. A plot reserved for recreational garden admeasuring 45.0 m x 100.0 m is adjoining a residential complex
of Stilt + 8 storey building. This plot is to be developed as recreational garden for the public and handed
over to the municipal authorities for further maintenance. The longer side is oriented along the East-
West Axis. It shares a common boundary with the residential complex on the North. There are 9.0 m wide
roads on the East and West and a 6.0 m wide road on the South side All roads have 1.5 m wide
pedestrian sidewalks. Design the public garden with appropriate requirements to fulfill all the needs of
all age groups of people.

PART-I: Attempt ANY TWO

Q.2. Explain the importance of landscape design in urban and suburban areas and discuss how they (15)
could be inter-related for better urban development.

Q.3. Discuss and explain (with appropriate sketches) the difference between Japanese garden and (15)
French garden.

Q.4. What led to the evolution of landscape architecture? Highlight the importance of landscape (15)
design to understand the relation between man and nature.
PART-II: Attempt ANY ONE

Q.5. Discuss plant life by categorizing with reference to plant characters. Give any three examples (15)
with sketches.
